Justice Department to challenge states’ voting rights laws

By Sari Horwitz, E-mail the writers

The Justice Department is preparing to take fresh legal action in a string of voting rights cases across the nation, U.S. officials said, part of a new attempt to blunt the impact of a Supreme Court ruling that the Obama administration has warned will imperil minority representation.

The decision to challenge state officials marks an aggressive effort to continue policing voting rights issues and follows a ruling by the court last month that invalidated a critical part of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Justices threw out Section 5 of the landmark act, which protects minority voters by requiring certain states with a history of discrimination to be granted Justice Department or court approval before making voting law changes.

Now the entire world will be made aware of your horrible record that goes back Decades and cheats Americans out of their vote.

DNC v. RNC Consent Decree

April 1, 2009|

Voting Rights & Elections,

Restricting the Vote

In 1982, after caging in predominantly African-American and Latino neighborhoods, the Republican National Committee and New Jersey Republican State Committee entered into a consent decree with their Democratic party counterparts. Under that decree and its 1987 successor, the Republican party organizations agreed to allow a federal court to review proposed “ballot security” programs, including any proposed voter caging.

The consent decree has been invoked several times, by the parties to the decree and by others. Most recently, in late 2008, the Democratic National Committee and Obama for America sought to enforce the consent decree, claiming that the Republican National Committee had not submitted alleged ballot security operations for review. After the election, the Republican National Committee asked the federal court to vacate or substantially modify the decree. The court denied the RNC's motion to vacate the consent decree and ordered the decree remain in effect until December 2017. The RNC then appealed to the Third Circuit, which unanimously rejected the appeal and affirmed the District Court's decision. The RNC subsequently petitioned for rehearing en banc.

Here you mention vote fraud going back decades cheating people out of votes yet when we bring up vote fraud going back decades cheating people out of votes you want to ignore it.

It's rather transparent your issue isn't with vote fraud per se but rather voting fraud you believe hurts democrats.

because its NOT the dems doing here and now you fucking hack.

IT is the republican party who has been doing for the last thirty years not the dems.

that is why you ONLY want to talk about something that happened decades ago and is NO LONGER happening huh?

Do you care about black voters TODAY?????

because you hate democracy

you only care about furthering YOUR ideas and don't give a fuck about the peoples ideas

Now you guys have pushed the president and his admin into this.

Your party is going to get so exposed that this generation of kids coming up will hate your party like they hate the clan.

Im going to be talking to you in detail about every case they investigate and charge.

Its going to be big fun

You claim vote fraud has been going for decades so it seems you're interested in discussing the past.

The Voting Rights Act of 1964 (still mostly intact) was the direct result of voting fraud that hurt minorities. I don't believe Desh ever mentioned a political party, but in these days those affected are mostly Democrats. If you'd like to produce Democrat-introduced legislation that prevents Republicans from voting, I'd be more than happy to review it.
