The Feds admit marijuana effective in treating cancer and insomnia

This conservative supports legalization of marijuana. I actually am in favor of other drugs as well. If people want to elect to keep themselves docile and stupid, that is up to them. I don't really have respect for those people, anyway. My drug of choice is alcohol, and I recently won a battle in WA to be able to purchase it in non-government operated stores. Now I have won a second battle, allowing my fellow citizens access to legal marijuana (assuming the Feds butt out).

I can't think of a more localized or small government approach to it than that. Admittedly, I support legalizing other drugs for political purposes, as I believe it would ravage the left and the Democratic Party.

It may be your version of the truth.
It's the correct version. You can bank on it. ;)

Why would I want to keep America docile and stupid? So they can elect another Bush?
No, you want to keep America sober and strong so that they don't elect another Obama.

Are you going to answer? Alcohol is far more dangerous and after years of public campaigns educating people about the dangers.
So lets compound the problem by legalizing marijuana? Looks like I've found another piece of the docile and stupid puzzle. ;)

Oh - so what you said before about keeping our cities safe & lawful was a lie? We have to still work toward that with "strong resolve"?
No, stupid. We have to maintain our resolve to keep our drug laws intact.

Are you a pothead as well?

No, you are a dumbass that doesn't think things through fully. You are very myopic and incapable of understanding complex issues. That's why you fail to appreciate the problems of a meta analysis.

Legalize marijuana and many will substitute it for alcohol. Some that were driving drunk will then instead drive high and actually reduce the danger, even according to your meta analysis.

Oh - so you admit our cities are not safer because of gangs that profit from drugs being illegal, and then respond to that point by claiming that we have to maintain our resolve, even though crime is worse now, and then retreat from that by accepting that we're less safe, but have to maintain our resolve & just accept that because keeping the drug laws intact is somehow a good unto itself, and worth the loss of life & violence we see as a result of those laws remaining intact.

Got it. You seem to have really thought through your position on this.

Duh. They are so stupid. It is amazing to me how many people will take ambien and other sleep aids. The side effects are not funny. You could even get into your car and drive while sleeping. Sleep-driving. Insomnia is terrible. Whenever I have it I smoke a little pot. It's so weird the crap people will put into their bodies just because a doctor gave it to them. And then they will look at you, oh you smoke pot? Yep. And I never woke up behind the wheel either.

They have seen through the facade. They have denied glossy eyed pot heads from getting what they really want: lots and lots of weed. I am for keeping our cities lawful and safe. You are not.

facts are not liberal or right wing they are facts.

when you are so brain washed you cant see that then you are too brain washed to think sanely

And you are ignorant:

So, a liberal posted this thread. Had a Conservative posted it, we wouldn't be having this part of the discussion.

Hey, here's a news flash for ya...it's WRONG to smoke pot and drive, JUST AS IT'S WRONG to DRINK and drive.

but does that mean it shouldn't be legal for private, in home use?

I know that probably is too much to comprehend, but sit back and think about it for a minute.

Why? Why in the hell would we maintain prohibition when prohibition simply leads to more violent crimes than would otherwise occur?

Why should we jail people for using something that is less harmful (and in some cases actually medically beneficial) than alcohol?

Why do you want to take our money to pay for jailing these people?

What is truly annoying is that I have to go in for knee surgery soon... I would prefer MJ to percocet or some other prescription drug in terms of pain reduction. Couple MJ with ibuprofen to reduce swelling and I would be good. Yet if I ask for medical MJ (which is legal in CO)... I have to be put on a registration list... which would effectively end my career as it is forbidden in investments. So I am going to be forced to take the manufactured drugs that are far worse for my body or buy the MJ illegally. (which I would of course never do because it is against the feds almighty law)

I didn't realize that some professions looked at that. That's a bummer.

Prescription painkillers are so much worse, in pretty much every aspect.
