The Family Who Lobbies Together

WM, there's a difference between a leader and a maniac.

The leader of the free world needs to be a person who is ambitious, and who has demonstrated qualities of leadership. Someone exceptional, who is willing - indeed "wants" to - be in charge and lead.

The same principles apply to somebody who wants to be a CEO at a corporation, or a four star General in the army. It doesn't serve anybody's interests to put some milquetoast weakling or "average joe" in charge of a corporation, an army, or a nation.

Bush has certainly shown us what happens when you put an 'average joe" in charge of a nation. He's a man who floated through life, and never demonstrated any drive or ambition on his own, until he was well into his 40s. And that's the reason Cheney actually controlls the country. He's able to walk all over Bush and tell him what to do. Bush is a weakling.

The nations better off whenever the presidents too weak to control anything and the congress takes the power.

I understand your sentiment and somewhat agree but also believe that pigeonholing people leaves out possible qualified candidates. You consider Bush weak but he fit two of your criteria, CEO and Govenor.

I agree it takes a driven person to become President. It also takes a very large ego to believe you are the most qualified person to run the most powerful country in the world.

So I do agree with portions of your arguement. The idea that some kid in high school knows he's going to be President and plans his life to that effect gives me a little bit of worry.

He was a miserable failure as a CEO, and the governor of Texas is little more than a ceremonial position, the way their state constitution works. The only way bush got to be a CEO is with money and help from Daddy's friends.

I could have told you back in 2000, that Bush wasn't qualified to be a leader...;)
