I agree with the idea of a fence, 100%....wtf is the sense in taking care of the present problem if we just have the same thing happen over and over....
only pinheaded fools would let the same thing happen year after year and claim the problem is fixed....

Its time to secure the border, once and for all.

Well then you're a complete and total moron who needs to eat pudding with plastic spoon to keep from poking your own eye out.

It won't work. It can't work and only a moron of staggering stupidity couldn't see that. The only thing such a fence would do is waste a vast amount of money and the only purpose it would serve would be as a collosal monument to stupidity.

Let me ask you this. If the Great Wall couldn't keep the Mongols out what makes you think this would work? If the Maginot line couldn't keep the Germans out what makes you think this would work? If the Siegfreid line couldn't keep us out of Germany what makes you think this would work?

The answers obvious. It wouldn't work and it couldn't work. It one of the most incredibly stupid ideas ever thought of in this country and one would have to be incredibly stupid not to see that.
 
Fence won't work. Hoople summed up the reasons, although perhaps in less gentle language than I would have used.

Along with the fence not working, you know what it will do? Break up migration lines for animals. Animals don't stop at the border; they need to cross back and forth seasonally. If we build a fence, once again we'll be messing with Mother Nature.

And she doesn't like it when we do that....

That's an excellent point! It just astounds me that people could actually believe that this would work when even just a cursory amount of critical thinking would lead you to the conclusion that it just possibly couldn't work.

The Berlin Wall, all examples of barriers that don't work, also, many illegals were once legal, but their visas expired and they have stayed. How does a wall help this problem?

We could go on all day about historical examples of walls built to keep people out (or in) that failed. Now I could see building a wall along the entire southern length of Canada.....but not to keep Hosers out.....but to grow more Hops! The price of a good quality brew is getting pretty steep due to the cost of hops. Now that's probably a wall that would work!!

well what would you elite thinking dems do, elite thinkers being the punch line. I would put armed gaurds and shoot the Bastards sneaking in. It's a slap in the face to U.S citizens, to have to foot the bill for these bastiches!

FWIW. We have a six foot tall fence surrounding the back yard.

The dogs dig under it, the cats jump over it.

I'm not sure teabaggers are smart enough to figure out how to negate a fence, but Mexicans are smart enough to.

Absolutely, it will end in whack-a-mole type scenarios with higher and higher costs. Only half of the undocumented entered illegally. A significant percentage of those probably came in through Canada or other access points. So a fence only even addresses a minority of the, so called, illegal immigrants.

The fence is a stupid idea that appeals to stupid people. We need to make the immigration system more efficient, reduce the burdens on honest immigrants and free up resources to deal with the undesirable immigrants.

The opponents to reform are lying about their motives. They want to discourage immigration and the cries about law and order are nothing more than propaganda.

Thanks for getting back to topic and away from racist comments, Prof. Baxter.

For those of you who think people from south of the border are taking jobs from citizens - the Farmworker's Union posted a whole bunch of crop picking jobs a couple years ago and only got one person to apply for them.

With immigration reform, we can then help keep jobs like picking crops, meat packing, etc from paying very low wages to illegal immigrants who can't complain about wages and working conditions; we can get those jobs to pay what they should be paying; and then maybe they will be attractive jobs again to non-illegal-immigrants. Of course we'll be paying more for food, but I prefer to eat food that isn't produced from substandard working conditions.

True. A fence alone won't work...it don't even work around the White House, but its there just the same to help do a job....as will a border fence...it will take a combination of
things to close the border, but the fact remains, it must be closed to the best degree we can close it.....
And you gotta be a naive fool to think that only poor Mexicans looking for work are the only things coming across....

Just as you pinheads claim that the US can't be and shouldn't be the policemen of the world, we also can't be the saviors and soup kitchen for the world...
