The Donald would not a good president make

I'm still curious about the "lip stick incident." Are you of the opinion that he was talking about Palin w/ that comment?

Let's get one of you righties on record, here...

I am, but it is not provable, so it's not a hill I am willing to die on by spamming this thread over it.

Well, he wasn't. That's one of those "hack tests." You failed.

"Lipstick on a pig" is an old, very oft-used political expression.

Hack this asshole (that was a big ol' green lugie in your honor) The timing of his quip created my opinion...and it is a fucking opinion dipshit, which you asked for and I gave.

Oh, but Onzies wants to die on this hill! He wants to die so bad! Who are we to deny him this wish?

In a speech that went viral overnight, Sarah Palin made the joke; "the only difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom, is lipstick." In the very NEXT public speech made by Obama, he says "you can put lipstick on a pig, and it's still a pig!" Following his speech, news organizations replayed the comment for two days, juxtaposed with Palin's joke. Now, you can argue that Obama wasn't talking about Palin, that his use of the word lipstick was purely coincidental, and as ID says, there is nothing that can ever prove that wrong....BUT... it is apparent, the news organizations who replayed the Obama comment over and over again for two days, obviously thought there was a connection. Several days later, the Obama campaign issued an apology for the statement, leading me to believe they at least thought the public's perception was, he was talking about Palin. So now, OnzieDoodles, you can argue this point, you can try to derail a thread over it, and you can even get down in the floor and kick and scream if you like, but what happened is what happened, and you can't change what happened. I has nothing to do with this thread, this topic, or this upcoming election cycle, but if you want to waste your life arguing over something this ridiculous, be my guest. I agree with ID, it can't be proven, so why argue about it?

I didn't bring it up. Frankly, I'm pretty surprised people still do, because there is absolutely, 100% no doubt that he was NOT talking about Palin, simply because she used the word "lipstick" in a speech.

Your post was entertaining, though...

You're right Onzies, that's why the news organizations replayed it for several days and the Obama campaign issued the apology, because there was 100% no doubt in anyone's mind. Mission accomplished, you died on this mountain! Should we erect a monument?

Yeah - because the Palin campaign immediately went into meltdown mode about it. That's why they covered it - not because they saw a connection...

What will matter to the voters are his bankruptcies and his lack of Presidential demeanor. chicken shit, anyone?

Why Trump's business acumen makes him a very ideal candidate to get us out of our mess...and what the auto industry should have been required to do in 2008/2009

No Personal Involvement

First, Trump doesn't get personally involved. He knows how to protect his personal finances. In both instances, Trump's corporations have filed for bankruptcy; Trump personally has not. Hence, when his casino fell into about a billion dollars in debt, the corporation filed for Chapter 11. Trump only made the decision to do so once he had spoken to his banks and bondholders. But, by filing, he gave his business the opportunity to regroup and reduce his business debt. It didn't hurt however that it would also reduce his personal debt, as Trump is likely the one every creditor would look to if the Taj Mahal couldn't pay up. So, in fact, Trump avoided potential lawsuits from credits and he may have also avoided personal bankruptcy by keeping his own bank account insulated.

Trump, it appeared, had triumphed. His company had dire financial problems but seemed to rise just as quickly from those bankruptcy ashes. Just three years later, he combined the hotels into the publicly held Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts.

For several years, the new company enjoyed double digit stock prices. His personal fortune in turn also skyrocketed. And the man who came close to losing it all leapt onto Forbes' most wealthy list.

Yet, Trump's public company would eventually fall...again. Within a few years of soaring high prices, the company stock had fallen into single digits. The one-time powerhouse company remained profitless and struggled just to pay the interest on the $2 billion debt. Trump claimed that the properties were unable to make the improvements necessary for keeping up with its flashier competitors. These financial troubles led to Trump's second trip into bankruptcy.

Win-Win Business Deals

It's in this second bankruptcy that Trump demonstrated the other quality that helps him stay on top. He knows how to create a win-win situation. This past November, Donald Trump filed for Chapter 11 a second time. Again, Trump asked to be able to restructure his company's debt and overhaul its aging casinos. Under the voluntary bankruptcy filing, Trump Atlantic City Associates, which is 99 percent owned by Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts Inc., listed $1.3 billion in debt and $1.5 million in assets.

But this time around the Donald proposed that reorganizing the company would provide him the cash to upgrade his properties. By making these changes, he could help keep the casinos competitive. The second benefit: bondholders would receive stock in exchange for forgiving the debt owed. In other words, it would increase their ownership of the company by roughly two-thirds.

The chances of making the money back and even a bit of profit will dramatically increase when the casino emerges from the reorganization. Why? Well, vendors will be paid.

But best of all, Trump got to keep his job (and his rather hefty salary). If all goes as planned, Trump's Atlantic City properties will be able to actually turn a profit and even potentially expand into new markets like Las Vegas.

At the end of the day, Donald Trump will not only come out on top, he may well come out in the green.

That's fucking stupid. Trump would be the ideal candidate to get the United States into debt, but since we already have significant debt I'm not sure that his skill set is needed. And since the federal government can't just file Chapter 11 bankruptcy to shed debt, I don't see how Trump would be an "ideal candidate to get us out of this mess."

Dixie, having a global outlook from a business perspective is different from having a global outlook politically. What do you think of world government and Wilsonian interventionism, for example? Compare it to free trade and you have something entirely different.

What do you think of Russian; Chinese; Brazilian; and Indian leaders meeting recently to discuss, among other things, "global currency"?

So far all I've seen are piss-poor excuses why folks don't like him. Fess up pussies and tell me the real reason.

Those of you who hated Kelo v. City of New London and that support the Trumpster should do a google search for "Trump Vera Cooking."

Donald Trump, who is considering a run for Republican presidential nomination, traded barbs on TV with U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, a potential Democratic candidate for New York City mayor, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Trump tussled with Weiner saying that, if the congressman won an election to be mayor of the Big Apple, people would flee the city.

Weiner started the brouhaha when the two appeared on CNN to discuss Libya after President Barack Obama’s address on Monday.

"I'm not president yet — although I think I have as much chance as Donald Trump does," Weiner said.

Show host Piers Morgan interjected with no evidence, saying to Trump: "He's polling better than you."

Trump responded: "If I polled like Anthony's polling, I would drop out immediately."

"You'll be dropping out soon enough, Donald. We both know it," was Weiner’s retort.

Trump shot back. "Frankly, I look at his polls in New York, running for mayor, he does very poorly. So I wish him a lot of luck," Trump said.

Morgan ended the heated exchange after Trump got in the last word: "A lot of people are leaving the city if you end up winning."

The very fact that he's gotten the lib's panties in a twist is just sheer entertainment and good in my book. Of course it takes so little to do just that, but it's f-u-n all the same!

He is bound to take the brunt of a mean spirited liberal press who went out of their way to ignore important investigative research on their "thrill up my leg" favorite- still I think the Rosie episode is unimportant to most American's. I believe this especially in light of all Obama's own pettiness towards people he disagrees with... Your reminder of the lip stick comment combined with the ones I mentioned can easily be used to derail the Rosie brouhaha that the media and the left may try and stir up IMO.

I don't necessarily think it is important to people, but I do think it is the image they recognize when they think of Trump. Basically, he could be an incredible President with all the right policy, but I think his self-absorbed antics of the past while promoting and becoming a "Reality TV" star will make it hard for most of the "voters" who literally pay attention only 2 weeks before an election to see him as "Presidential"...
