The Donald would not a good president make

Cancel 2018. 3

<-- sched 2, MJ sched 1
i heard him on the radio for a bit today....and he had some ideas, mostly how great he is....how successful he is, how his foreign policy experience is dealing with foreign countries in business, how china is screwing us, and how as president, he would not have the chinese premier over dinner at the white house.....how great trump is, and how he would save senior citizens....and how great trump is

now....listening to him...i can't imagine him running this country as he sounds like an infomericial....granted most candidates do, but trump takes the cake. he may have said more or less....but that is what i remember from the segment i heard.

1. foreign policy - i'll give him that...but, for business only. politics and business foreign relations are entirely different. his business experience put him ahead of obama in 08'

2. china is screwing us - he is right. and his business dealings with them give him much experience here, and i would argue, over obama, even now.

3. not having china's premier over for dinner - fuggiddaboutit trump, this aint' yo towers, this is the world. have dinner, smile and a coke.

4. senior citizens - i agree with him....if the gop "gets to far out in front" (his words) on cutting their benefits etc....they've lost.

not a bad guy.....good ideas, but not presidential material. he is doing this for publicity and money and maybe, just maybe....for some small good of the country as he gets older.

Okay... #1 - Trump is unconventional. So?

1. foreign policy - i'll give him that...but, for business only. politics and business foreign relations are entirely different. his business experience put him ahead of obama in 08'

Whoa, hold up.... WHY are politics and business entirely different? Why should they be? Why are you programmed to believe they should be? We should conduct our foreign affairs EXACTLY like business, because that is what it is! We should negotiate for deals which favor US and pass on deals that don't! He's absolutely right, we are patsies and pushovers, we go and fight for the freedom of others, spending enormous wealth and sacrificing lives, only to be hated for it and never repaid. Then we leave everything we fought for behind? It doesn't make sense.

2. china is screwing us - he is right. and his business dealings with them give him much experience here, and i would argue, over obama, even now.

He's right, and you'll notice, he isn't afraid to say it... do you hear the others saying this? Perhaps the behind the scenes money doesn't influence The Donald as much as it does the average politician? Good thing, or bad thing? You decide!

3. not having china's premier over for dinner - fuggiddaboutit trump, this aint' yo towers, this is the world. have dinner, smile and a coke.

Why should a President Trump HAVE to invite the Chinese premier over for dinner? Why are you conditioned to believe we can't be tough with the Chinese, or we have to be cordial and nice? Trump points out how much of the Chinese stuff we purchase... they should be buying US dinner!

4. senior citizens - i agree with him....if the gop "gets to far out in front" (his words) on cutting their benefits etc....they've lost.

I'm not sure what is meant by "too far out in front" on this... Social Security is broke, or soon to be broke, and if we don't want it to go away forever, we have to fix it. I have yet to see a plan or proposal to do this, which includes ANY change for seniors currently receiving benefits. What I DO see, is a constant drumbeat from liberals CLAIMING we want to take SS benefits from seniors! Frightening old people is one of the oldest Democrat tricks in the book.

not a bad guy.....good ideas, but not presidential material. he is doing this for publicity and money and maybe, just maybe....for some small good of the country as he gets older.

And WHY is he "not presidential material?" Because he isn't a typical politician? Because he isn't beholden to party ideology? Because he hasn't cuddled up with the lobbyists in Washington?

I am not 100% sold on Trump, I stated my previous doubts in another thread, and I still think he is possibly trying to siphon votes away from the extreme right, in order to help nominate Mitt Romney. That's just my personal opinion on what he is up to... I could be wrong. If he is for real, and serious, his candidacy could change politics as we know it. Given the TEA Party and GOP are not exactly lovey-dovey, who else has enough street cred to walk in and represent the people and suck all the oxygen out of the room? Yeah, I can see the TEA Party nominating Trump for the GOP, and the establishment elite standing there in stunned disbelief. One thing is for sure, Trump isn't Sarah Palin, there's not much the left can't throw at him that he hasn't already seen and dealt with before.

At first glance, it seems like a really bad joke... President Trump... the Trump White House... the Trump Cabinet... The Trump Administration... Trump policies... The Trump Doctrine... when I imagine these things, I tend to chuckle a bit... it seems so surreal, but could it happen? Only in America!!

Trump is an enigma, and in 2012, he may be exactly the type of president America is ready for. What is stunning to me is this, he is currently running second in the polls for the GOP nomination, and no announcement has been made yet, no campaigning has officially started. That's pretty damn impressive, if you ask me. I still believe he is in it to spoil the chances of candidates on the far right, and tilt the nomination to Romney by default. I guess time will tell on that, we'll have to wait and see.

I selected only this one point to comment on. You may be right that politics and business are not different since America is run by the corporations anyway. Trump can be called CEO of the downfall at corporate hands instead of President.

The Donald would not a good president make

While we're on this subject, what DOES make a "good president" in your opinion? Some career politician, who has enjoyed a life of pressing the flesh and telling you what you want to hear? Someone who has had their arms elbow-deep in the sausage making process known as DC? Someone bought and owned by special interests? Someone who is committed to protecting the Elephant or Donkey instead of America? Just what DOES make a "good president?"

Trump does have leadership ability, and he has a track record of success in business. He also has some failures, but you can never take the risks which bring enormous success, without the occasional failure. It goes with the territory. By any measure, the man is a success overall, he is worth a fortune, and this takes the issue of money out of the equation. For many, that's a significant factor here, because money tends to corrupt politics. Is he unconventional and outside the box? Yeah, and that is maybe what his strongest card is!

I like Trump, and respect what he's done in business, but he would be a TERRIBLE President. He is unbelievably vindictive, hyper-sensitive & a little bit delusional. He wouldn't even get through the primary campaign without America seeing some pretty ugly true colors - the criticism would overwhelm him....

Does anybody think that the Rosie O'Donnell episode was a great example of "Presidential"?

Does anyone really like or care about Rosie O'Donnell? I wonder if chastising a SCJ on live TV in front of the entire country is a great example of acting "presidential"? Or how about insinuating racism as a cause that a police officer arrests a man for disorderly conduct? Trump was/is a celebrity, when O'Donnell who in her role as a celebrity called Trump a pimp....he responded with an insult back. I am sure at the time it was not acting presidential...but then again he was not a president.

I like Trump...I am surprised that I like him as a possible presidential candidate. I think it is because he is a "I yam what I yam" real person despite his billions. Whether or not I would actually vote for him will depend on the outcomes during the process of his actually becoming a candidate. Much remains to be seen.

Whether I like her or not, the interpersonal silliness of that episode does not strike me as Presidential any more than Obama's childish lipstick BS makes him look great.

Now do I think that makes the difference as to whether people will vote for him? Yeah, a little. Most Americans aren't like us and steeped in policy talking politics all day, most of them see a guy with bad hair that gets in public WWE style trash-talking fights with unappealing talk show hosts.

Damo - "lipstick on a pig" is an old political expression.

Please tell me you believed the Palin campaign's idiocy that he was actually talking about her w/ "pig." Please.

She may well have been correct in calling Trump a pimp in the same ways that she pimps herself. It is all about image and agenda. They both have one.

There are myriad other examples, choose one. Let's start with a knee-jerk insult of cops which ends with his inviting some dude for a beer... It doesn't matter which one you want to look at, childish insults are not that "Presidential" nor is speaking stupidly off the cuff.

Well, at least you're backing of the "pig" comment. That's a relief.

Well it's just too bad Trump isn't a Democrat! You currently have a president who can only rival the VP for saying totally stupid shit, and it didn't seem to matter to the Democrats. I think you put too much stock in this "look presidential" and "sound presidential" bullshit. There isn't a politician on either side that "looks" or "talks" presidential, in my opinion. At this point, I'm not even sure what that means. I think we have to stop trying to make our candidates fit a mold, conform to a mythical image, or live up to old stereotypes. Then again, maybe this is the job of the candidate, to make us forget these things.... Do you believe most people in America in 1933, thought a "cripple man" looked "presidential?" FDR took the initiative to downplay his disability, and we didn't see him as handicapped... not because he wasn't, but because he made us forget.

LOL....dunceler does this all the time...claims you're backing off when you're not...it makes him feel superior

I'd like to hear Damo's take on that.

Damo - is Yurt right? Were you not backing off of that comment....do you agree w/ the Palin campaign's idiocy that he was talking about her?

Yes or no on that one. This should be good.

Dixie;800665]Okay... #1 - Trump is unconventional. So?

yeah, that is the reason i think he no presidential material....

business is about profit, politics not always. programmed? sheeesh....anytime someone has a different view from your view, they are "programmed"....you sound paranoid. no, foreign affairs is not just like business. business owners do not command armies or nuclear weapons.

He's right, and you'll notice, he isn't afraid to say it... do you hear the others saying this? Perhaps the behind the scenes money doesn't influence The Donald as much as it does the average politician? Good thing, or bad thing? You decide!

did i say he was wrong? no. again....politics and business are not the same.

Why should a President Trump HAVE to invite the Chinese premier over for dinner? Why are you conditioned to believe we can't be tough with the Chinese, or we have to be cordial and nice? Trump points out how much of the Chinese stuff we purchase... they should be buying US dinner!

again with the "programmed" or "conditioned".....lord forbid someone hold a different view from you....you are really paranoid. china is one of the most powerful countries in the world, it would asinine to not have them over for dinner in the WH. bush did....why weren't you complaining then? you're only pissy because obama is president.

if you're not sure, then listen to what trump has to say on it.

And WHY is he "not presidential material?" Because he isn't a typical politician? Because he isn't beholden to party ideology? Because he hasn't cuddled up with the lobbyists in Washington?

because he does not understand how global politics work. i listened to him, he thinks running a country is EXACTLY like running a corporation. to some extent it is, but it is not exactly the same. a country is not there solely or mainly for profits. i haven't heard any good governance ideas from him. all i hear is how he will run the country like he runs his business.....so am i to expect a few bankruptcies then?

I am not 100% sold on Trump, I stated my previous doubts in another thread, and I still think he is possibly trying to siphon votes away from the extreme right, in order to help nominate Mitt Romney. i would vote romney....unless something new comes out about him.

He is bound to take the brunt of a mean spirited liberal press who went out of their way to ignore important investigative research on their "thrill up my leg" favorite- still I think the Rosie episode is unimportant to most American's. I believe this especially in light of all Obama's own pettiness towards people he disagrees with... Your reminder of the lip stick comment combined with the ones I mentioned can easily be used to derail the Rosie brouhaha that the media and the left may try and stir up IMO.

I'm still curious about the "lip stick incident." Are you of the opinion that he was talking about Palin w/ that comment?

Let's get one of you righties on record, here...
