"the basket of deplorables"

Clinton partially walks back ‘deplorables’ comment

Hillary Clinton partially walked back comments she made on Friday night, in which she described half of Donald Trump's supporters as "a basket of deplorables" who were driven by “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic" sentiments.

“Last night I was ‘grossly generalistic,’ and that's never a good idea. I regret saying ‘half’ -- that was wrong," the Democratic nominee said in a statement.

But she also doubled down on previous comments she has made about the Republican nominee’s campaign apparatus and its embrace of “alt-right” supporters.

“But let's be clear, what's really ‘deplorable’ is that Donald Trump hired a major advocate for the so-called ‘alt-right’ movement to run his campaign and that David Duke and other white supremacists see him as a champion of their values.
It's deplorable that Trump has built his campaign largely on prejudice and paranoia and given a national platform to hateful views and voices, including by retweeting fringe bigots with a few dozen followers and spreading their message to 11 million people,” the statement continued.

I'm determined to bring our country together :palm: and make our economy work for everyone, not just those at the top. Because we really are ‘stronger together.’”

I personally like the "Islamaphobic" label. Much like the "Violent (can't say Islamic) Extremists" meme.
So If you do use "radical Islamic" = Islamicphobic ( the Dem's have a lot of 'phobics!")

It's a junk term either way.

this isn't the first " baskets of the deplorables"

There, the candidate explained her approach to Republicans interested in Trump, according to one Bay Area attendee. Clinton divides Trump voters into two baskets, she said: the everyday Republicans — her targets — and what she called “the deplorables” — the "alt-right" crowd she excoriates and has no hope of wooing.

Romney got crushed for his 47% comment. Will be interesting to see if she suffers the same for calling millions of people a "basket of deplorables"

You whine about political correctness, then when she drops any pretense of political correctness and tells it like it is, you act surprised and get all bent out of shape.

It is a FACT that a number of Trumpkins are indeed white nationalists, homophobes, sexists and Islamophobes.

Where do I name call people Zap? Rarely do you see me do it. So yeah, if people like yourself like P.C. then don't defend Hillary for saying this.

You notice I don't support Trump. You do support Hillary and her saying this hypocrite.

I guess it would be fair for Trump to say that half of Hillary's supporters are lazy welfare scum looking for handouts and pumping out fatherless children to increase their monthly check.

Of course it would be awful for Trump to say that, so why is it ok for Hillary to use the leftwing rhetorical caricatures?

In January of this year, a poll showed that 53% of Republicans are birthers. That means that the majority of the party are the willfully ignorant.

uh no......he was talking about those the liberals had made dependent on government....

Try not to be a bigger idiot than you are. The fact is that 47% of Americans don't pay federal income taxes, not 47% of Democrats or Obama voters.

[1]You're obviously also a willful ignoramus. The name of the party is the Democratic Party, regardless of your pissant opinion. Stop listening to Limbaugh and Hannity.

[2]More willful ignorance if you think today's Republican Party has ANY resemblance to the party of Lincoln. Laughable in fact.

[3]The racist Demcratic Party of yesteryear is comprised of the same pricks that comprise a good portion of the party today.

[4]Republicanatic? (laughing) What a moron!
1. I coined the phrase long before Limbaugh did.
2. On fiscal policy, they are exactly the same.
3. We agree. The 'rats have not changed.
4. We agree again; "ic" is moronic to add to your Party's name.

I'm not here defending Trump. Is this how it works as a Hillary supporter it doesn't matter what she says or does?

I don't have to be a Hillary supporter to note the double standard and cherry-picking re: her v. Trump. And I'm not saying you support Trump, I just answered because you brought up the superpredator comment.

it goes to her sanctimonious mindset..
oh look! she's done the same thing before while fundraising http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-september-debate-227714

Not sure why this is surprising out of Hillary or any of the establishment elitists. Including some on the so-called right.

Hillary has no use for some people in her own party---as Wiki leaks informed us. You can only imagine her opinion of working stiffs.

That said, it's refreshing to watch Hillary have to back track on a statement lol. It was a pretty stupid thing to say, given that Trump has the momentum.
