the AR-15 follies: Here we go again!

Results count. Again, installing a Nanny State government to dictate to people what to think, what to believe and what to do is going away from freedom, not moving toward it.

The purpose of government is to protect rights, not deprive them as you are advocating.

It's just a fine line to walk because obviously, idiots exist, and at a certain point when you let idiots do whatever they want, they inevitably hurt themselves and others. Personal responsibly is vital for sure, but you have to realize how things you might not think are affecting anyone else, actually are.

You have the freedom to get fat as shit, Americans can and do eat whatever they want. But the resulting obesity doesn't just affect them, it puts unnecessary strain on our healthcare system. If you have land, you might argue that you have the right to raise hogs on that land, but eventually your neighbors property value will diminish due to the smell.

There's nuances to where every right butts up against someone else's.

Agreed. It's a complex issue. Why do you think certain Democrats want to ban guns based on mental health but don't care if crazy people drive or vote?

When they are banned, they will slowly disappear over time. As they are used and confiscated by police, they fade away. They will not all be gone ever. But stopping their sales will make the supply smaller. They will be taken from those who misuse them.

maybe you missed that part about where we'll make our own and black market them........

enforcement might be an issue as well. but by all means, piss off 30 million AR owners, see what it gets you

We will NEVER know if the AR-15 is available to ANYONE, ANY TIME, ANY WHERE.

And the band played on. :|

b,b,b,b more than a few teahicks have told me AR-15's are mere hunting rifles, NOT EVEN ASSAULT WEAPONS!

pure coincidence armies around the world use them to assault people and other armies!

AR-15....a versatile weapon that does EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR....ASSAULTING AND KILLING PEOPLE WITH ACCURACY .

Exactly.
Not designed for hunting like a bolt action Weatherby or even a lever action .30/30 for brush hunting or a shotgun for hunting fowl.
Not designed for target shooting like a Remington 40XB.

Not designed for home defense unless you're expecting to be invaded by a platoon of marauders
in which case you might consider either a change of address or retirement from illegal drug distributing activities,
plus it makes small holes. A big guy high on drugs will take one or two and keep on coming.

It's designed for the fucking military, which the civilian citizen is not.
I'm not an anti-gun person.
I'm a reasonable person when it comes to firearms.
There is no need for civilian ownership of assault weapons and there are infinite reasons in opposition to it.
You can still own lots and lots of more appropriate firearms designed for legitimate reasons,
and acquire them in ways compatible with public safety.

That view is psychotic, but if it's real, then eventually the 2nd Amendment will indeed be repealed
and the new laws will probably ban all private ownership of firearms, something in which I personally don't believe.

NRA and private militia types are by far the biggest threat to preserving the 2nd Amendment.
You're fucking yourselves and aren't smart enough to know it, I'm afraid.
All guns owners, including the sane ones like myself, will suffer.
