Tesla Model 3 named winner in KBB’s 5-Year Cost to Own Awards 2022. MAGA wets panties

100% Electric Vehicles = 11% Of New Vehicle Sales Globally!
And 15% of new vehicles sold across the world have a plug.

Global plugin vehicle registrations were up 60% in August 2022 compared to August 2021, reaching 847,000 units. This is the best result ever for an off-peak month (as in, not the final month of a quarter). So, expect not only that Q3 will be the best quarter ever for plugins, but also that September will provide the mother of all record months! I expect September will be the first time the world reaches one million plugin vehicle registrations in a month. With China (surely), the USA (likely), and Europe (maybe?) posting record months in September, expect the end of Q3 to be another time of celebration.

With a strong month in August, plugins represented 15% share of the overall auto market. Full electrics (BEVs) themselves reached 11% share of the market! And these numbers could have been even larger of the overall market had not started to recover last month. That, added to the fact that plugless hybrids (HEVs) posted their highest growth rate since last March (+6% YoY), confirms once again the significant correlation between the HEV and pure ICE (internal combustion engine) markets.

Electric vehicles are exploding from water damage after Hurricane Ian, Florida official warns

A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian.

EV batteries that have been waterlogged in the wake of the hurricane are at risk of corrosion, which could lead to unexpected fires, according to Jimmy Patronis, the state's top financial officer and fire marshal.

"There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start," Patronis tweeted Thursday. "That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale."

"It takes special training and understanding of EVs to ensure these fires are put out quickly and safely," he continued in a follow-up tweet. "Thanks to [North Collier Fire Rescue] for their hard work."

Patronis published a video of firefighters in Naples, Florida, battling a fire started from a Tesla EV's battery. A bystander is overheard in the video saying that the crew had used hundreds of gallons of water attempting to put the fire out.....

In August, 22% of new vehicle sales in China, the largest car market in the world, were fully electric (30% had a plug).

That’s August 2022, not August 2035. China, notably, modeled its EV policies in large part on California’s. (A few years ago, I talked with a Chinese-American professor at a California university who was a top advisor to the Chinese government on this.)

In the same month, August 2022, 13% of new vehicle sales in Europe were fully electric (21% had a plug). The UK is up to 17% of new vehicle sales being fully electric (22% having a plug). Norway is up to 77.7% of new vehicle sales being fully electric (89.1% having a plug).

Looking globally, 11% of new vehicle sales are fully electric vehicles sales, and 15% have a plug. In August 2022.

More Than Half of US Car Sales Will Be Electric by 2030
Biden’s climate spending is set to kickstart the market for EVs, according to a new forecast from BloombergNEF.
Just over half of passenger cars sold in the US will be electric vehicles by 2030, according to a report from BloombergNEF, thanks in part to consumer incentives included in the $374 billion in new climate spending enacted by President Joe Biden.

Those incentives, among them a point-of-sale tax credit of up to $7,500 for a new EV purchase, are likely to boost the pace of adoption, BloombergNEF analysts found in the report. Prior to passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August, projections for EV sales by 2030 2030 came in at 43% of the US market. With the climate-spending measure in place, that estimate was revised upwards to 52%.

Riddle me this: How much of that is due to oppressive, totalitarian, government mandates coupled to government bribes (subsidies) to force people to buy these POS's?

Tesla Model 3 Owner Gets Stranded in the Middle of the Freeway on Her Third Drive

Dana Brems used to drive a Toyota Prius in college, but she always wanted to have a Tesla. When she became a doctor, she bought one as a gift to herself. Autopilot was a feature Brems loved. On her third drive, her brand-new Model 3 decided to stop in the left lane of the I-5 highway right after a blind corner. Luckily, nothing worse happened, but the mere possibility made her want to return her car. Tesla does not want it back and blames her for everything.

Brems started her video by telling how she bought her Model 3. Tesla told her she would have to wait until December to get her EV, but she took delivery in just two weeks, which she now finds suspiciously early. There are some possible explanations for that: she could have gotten a car someone else refused, or Tesla’s backlog is not as long as it says. Recently, the company was accused of speeding delivery of vehicles with Full Self-Driving included – a $15,000 plus for beta software most people will never get to use.

The doctor was driving from Los Angeles to San Diego on October 7. She activated Autosteer for the first time and said the Model 3 was changing lanes every ten seconds or so. When she reached Camp Pendleton after stopping in Irvine for a late lunch, a car in front of hers slowed down. That was the trigger for her car to also decelerate and not move again.

An error popped up saying Autopilot was disengaged, but that was pretty much it. There was no warning that the vehicle was losing power, was out of charge, or anything like that. Before leaving, Brems made sure that her car would warn her if she had to stop in a Supercharger to get more power. It never advised her to do so, and when the vehicle stalled on the left lane of I-5 after a blind corner, there was very little she could do apart from calling 911.

Uh, maybe 0.001% BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!

Americans bought more than 200,000 electric cars in the third quarter — a first. Electric car sales grew faster than any other segment of the auto industry.
Americans bought 67% more electric cars in the third quarter of 2022 than in the same period in 2021, according to our third-quarter Electrified Light Vehicle Sales Report. Overall new car sales fell 0.1% in the same period.
Sixty-four percent of the EVs Americans bought in the third quarter were Teslas.
Tesla sales grew throughout the quarter, with the company losing ground only because of new competition. The*Tesla Model Y*and*Model 3*once again placed first and second in EV sales, respectively.
