Tesla Model 3 named winner in KBB’s 5-Year Cost to Own Awards 2022. MAGA wets panties

Too bad Tesla can't seem to build cars.

Tesla Model Y earns five-star rating from European safety agency
https://www.theverge.com/2022/9/7/23340725/tesla-model-y-five-star-safety-euro-ncap
Euro NCAP said the Model Y’s safety assist was ‘near perfect’

All of Tesla’s vehicles are rated five stars by the Euro NCAP.
Tesla extended its five-star rating streak in Europe with the Model Y, the company announced. The electric crossover SUV earned top marks during safety tests conducted by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), receiving the highest overall score among any vehicle tested under the agency’s more stringent test protocol.

The testing measures four areas: the vehicle’s ability to protect adults; its ability to protect children; the protection it provides vulnerable road users like cyclists and pedestrians; and its safety assistance features. The Model Y, made at Tesla’s new gigafactory in Berlin, scored a 97 percent in Adult Occupant Protection and a “near-perfect” 98 percent in Safety Assist, with full points for its lane support and new cabin camera-based driver monitoring system, Euro NCAP reports.

“NEAR PERFECT”

The agency also commended Tesla for its camera-only vision system, which it said “performs remarkably well” in preventing collisions with other cars, cyclists, and pedestrians.

“Tesla have shown that nothing but the best is good enough for them, and we hope to see them continue to aspire to that goal in the future,” Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP’s secretary general, said in a statement.

So a government banning gasoline cars rates Tesla high, even though Tesla cannot seem to build cars.

General Motors unveiling a new electric SUV chevrolet equinox EV

General Motors revealed a new electric SUV Thursday that the automaker expects will be the cheapest compact electric SUV on the market when it goes into product in about a year. The Chevrolet Equinox EV will have a starting price around $30,000 which, at any rate, will make it among the cheapest electric vehicles of any sort.

The average electric vehicle available today has a base sticker price of about $47,500, according to Edmunds.com. The $30,000 price for the Equinox EV would be, of course, for the simplest version with no optional features. That price does not include tax credits but GM is not currently eligible for any electric vehicle tax credits, anyway, and it’s uncertain if any GM vehicles will be eligible under new rules, either.

Among 2022 model year mass-market EVs, only the Nissan Leaf, with its base price $28,500, costs less and it also currently qualifies for a $7,500 federal tax credit. There are a few other models in the low- to mid-$30,000 price range, too. Among them are Chevrolet’s own Bolt EV and the SUV-ish Bolt EUV.

Tesla Semi — Updates in 2022
ByZachary Shahan
Published21 hours ago*
Ever since November 2017, the Tesla vehicle I’ve been most looking forward to has been the Tesla Semi. I’m sure Tesla legend Jerome Guillen has been in the same boat, as well as countless Tesla fans. It’s been a long wait. However, here in 2022, we’ve got a number of updates that inspire confidence we will start seeing Tesla Semi trucks on roads near us before long.

Tesla Semi coming soon. It’s going to disrupt the trucking industry. @elonmusk

On the most superficial level, a few Tesla Semis were recently spotted out and about. Yes, one of those was at the Cyber Rodeo, so it’s not new, but seeing a flock of Tesla Semis is certainly not common.

More notably, Tesla opened up actual order books for the Tesla Semi in May, and it was reported in June that Tesla had installed a Megacharger at a Frito Lay and PepsiCo facility in Modesto, California, in preparation for some of the first Semi deliveries to customers. Megachargers were also installed at Tesla Gigafactory 1 (Giga Nevada) back in January of this year.

Another noteworthy update on the topic is that as part of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, an electric semi truck could get your business a $40,000 tax credit. Yowzas! That’s one clear way to support the rollout of electric semi trucks, both from Tesla and from others (ahem, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Freightliner).

So I have to buy someone an electric semi. No thanks. I do not condone communism.

They aren't. You are hallucinating.

Only about 1-2% of the cars on the road are EVs.

Six of seven Super Bowl car ads featured EVs. 9% of passenger vehicle sales globally are EVs, Canalys said. Of the 6.5 million EVs sold in 2021, 3.2 million EVs were sold in 2021 to mainland China, 2.3 million EVs were sold in Europe, and 535,000 were in the United States.Feb 14, 2022

Wrong again, Into the Cult.

Ads aren't cars. Most Super Bowl ads are for beer and snacks, not cars.

Argument from randU. Made up numbers aren't data.

535,000 EV's sold in the US, with most on backlog (they can't be built). Meanwhile, 16 MILLION cars sold in the US in 2021.

I don't give a fuck about what oligarchies and dictatorships like Europe and China tell people to buy.

Wrong again, Into the Cult.

You can try to make up numbers all day. They are still just making up numbers. Argument from randU fallacy. Special pleading fallacy. Cherry picking fallacy.

Don't like the numbers? They hurt your argument? Just claim they're fake.
Delusional fallacy. Irrational disdain for new technology. Puerile reply when proven wrong.
