Terrible news for the Creation Science museum (and Republicans)

The big question: why is evolution so damned slow in replacing us with a more evolved species?

JPP alone indicates how much room evolution has available to itself for improvement.

Instead, we got devolution and the emergence of trumpanzee mutants.

Maybe it's a sign that our sun is about to burn out.

Nature is doing its best to make it a smaller loss to the universe when it happens.

It is an absolute pity folks are not allowed to thank your post

REGARDLESS of the source of original matter, ie, sub-atomic particles,
the random confluence of it to create the universe certainly doesn't represent intelligent design.

If you wish to believe in a god who created sub-atomic particles and then decided to take an eternal nap,
I've no arguments prepared against that theory.

Why you would see fit to worship such a god is quite another matter.

You're easily impressed, Grump.

Quantum physics and quantum fluctuations demonstrates that matter can pop into existence from nothing. Matter does not have to be caused.

On the flip side, no one knows what the origin of the universe is -- or if that is even the right question. There are many thing we do not understand about the nature of time, entropy, or the ultimate fate of the universe.

However, scientific uncertainties do not prove the existence of a Judeo-Christian God, or even establish evidence for it.

Scientific uncertainties are just that - uncertainties.

Really ... then where did it come from and what caused it to happen ???

You are trying to create something I did not say

Yes and the matter of individual personal beliefs is one reason we as US citizens have "unalienable rights" ... I hope you've heard of that

When it comes to being impressed with truth ... YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT

Keep it up. You're on a roll, Grump.

Yep

And again ... Yep

You are now going off topic ... thus far the discussion has been about the esoterics of the universe ... not a particular dogma

Yep yet again ... now since we have entered the realm of multiple universes and matter poping in and out of existence ... HOW DO WE EVEN KNOW WE ARE ACTUALLY HERE ???

HAVE WE GONE FULL CIRCLE TO THE OLD ... "I THINK THEREFORE I AM ???"

Oldest Homo sapiens fossils ever found push humanity's birth back to 300,000 years

Digging on a hilltop in the Sahara Desert, scientists have found the most ancient known members of our own species, undermining longstanding ideas about the origins of humanity.

The newfound Homo sapiens fossils — three young adults, one adolescent and a child of 7 or 8 — date back roughly 300,000 years, says a study in this week’s Nature. The next-oldest fossils of Homo sapiens, the scientific name for humans, are about 200,000 years old.

The 200,000-year-old fossils were found in eastern Africa, sometimes called the “Garden of Eden” for its supposedly pivotal role as the birthplace of humanity. But the new fossils are from Morocco in far northern Africa, supporting the theory that the evolution of modern humans was a piecemeal affair that played out across the continent.

“There is no Garden of Eden in Africa,” said Jean-Jacques Hublin, co-author of two new studies describing the fossils and a paleontologist at Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. “Or if there is a Garden of Eden, it’s … the size of Africa.”

The new finds confirm “modern humans do not suddenly appear like the Big Bang, with all the bells and whistles that we associate with modern humans,” agrees paleoanthropologist Bernard Wood of George Washington University, who was not associated with the study.

LINK FAILS. HOW DID THEY DETERMINE SPECIES ,AND DATE?

CARBON DATING HAS BEEN PROVEN TO BE WILDLY INACCURATE..YEARS AGO.

GOT A LINK THAT WORKS??

FOUND MY OWN; YOU LEFT THIS OUT, FOR SOME REASON:

"Palaeontologist Jeffrey Schwartz, at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, says the new finds are important — but he is not convinced that they should be considered H. sapiens. Too many different-looking fossils have been lumped together under the species, he thinks, complicating efforts to interpret new fossils and to come up with scenarios on how, when and where our species emerged.

“Homo sapiens, despite being so well known, was a species without a past until now,” says María Martínon-Torres, a palaeoanthropologist at University College London, noting the scarcity of fossils linked to human origins in Africa. But the lack of features that, she says, define our species — such as a prominent chin and forehead — convince her that the Jebel Irhoud remains should not be considered H. sapiens."

YAWWWWNNNN...THAT DIDN'T TAKE LONG.

YOU'RE STILL STUCK WITH Y-CHROMOSMAL ADAM, AND MITOCHONDRIAL EVE...

The physics of carbon isotope decay are well understood.

There is uncertainty in virtually all scientific analytical procedures. Mass spectrometers are no exception. This should hardly be shocking news to any educated or well read person.

Science mitigates uncertainty by methods to increase precision and accuracy. Frequently this involves confirming results with multiple samples and demonstrating repeatability. Or if volcanic ash is present in the sedimentary layers, other isotopes can be used to confirm dates.

We are hominids with souped-up chimpanzee brains. Our cognitive capacity has limits. I calculate there is exactly zero chance we are going to know with perfect clarity the answers to all reality, objective or otherwise.

The take-away here is that when religious fundamentalists spike the football and declare victory just because science does not have all the answers, that actually is neither proof nor evidence of a Judeo-Christian god.

For all of our brilliant evolutionists, please explain to the class where original matter came from.

You know, the matter from which all things are made. Where did it come from.

It came from The Always. It isn't even really an ' it '. It's a ' we '. Always was , always will be.

I get quite profound on an empty stomach.

The Theory of Creation is not science. Neither is the Theory of Evolution, or the Theory of Abiogenesis.
Science has no theories about past unobserved events. They are not falsifiable. Such theories are nonscientific. They remain circular arguments, and as religions.

The 'genetic line' is simply one that is made up. There are several such lines, depending on when you are examining DNA or examining structure, and there are many variations due to personal beliefs and opinions as well.

You complained about a problem that does not exist.

Carbon isotope dating would have been useless on samples of this age. Carbon isotopes are only useful to about 50,000 b.p.

They probably used thorium isotopes.

Mitochondrial DNA and genetic studies just prove humans today descended from a small population of homo sapiens originating in Africa. That makes sense because humans have less genetic diversity than onion plants. It does not follow that this proves there was an Adam and Eve.

Circular argument fallacy (fundamentalism). No proof is possible. Religion is an open functional system. You cannot go back in time to see what actually happened.

From a giant sky daddy working in his cloud filled laboratory where a staff of winged angels are his assistants of course.
