Teens dies after insurance company denies payment

Anyway, it's been fun trying to be all emotive in my politics, but I am done pretending that I think organ sales should be illegal.

We are discussing the regulation of organ transplants so that economic force cannot be applied.

And no you arguing for the outlaw of trade in organs. If you were instead arguing for some sort of protection from you Disney movie that would be regulating to prevent "force." Instead you just use that fairy-tale to advocate outlaw of trade in organs.

Rubbish, only regulation of one form of trade. You are now being preposterous. I never said donations would be illegal.

Hahaha I thought so, no worries, I used to be emo with environmental issues for awhile, even after turning to the right.

Profit, i.e., resources, must necessarily be a factor in all economic decisions. Medical decisions, or any others that invoke your emotional appeals, do not magically avoid opportunity costs. Sorry.

Nope. Business should be conducted within an overarching moral framework. sorry.

Look, I know even in a single payer universal plan, not every procedure is going to be paid for. Medical facts have to be balanced against the efficacy of treatment. And I'm not saying that I know for sure that profit is a motive in this particular case.

But, I have a major problem with profit being in any way, a consideration in whether a patient's treatment gets paid for. It should be completely based on medical facts and medical science. Profit should play no role in determining who dies and who lives.

The CEO should be charged with premeditated murder.

Does not change anything. Skippy gets a heart, that means someone else does without. Sure, we don't care about the fat cat, but we know that little will come out of his end.

But who decides who gets the heart and on what basis is that decision made? On what basis should it be made?

Doctors, mostly.

BTW, it's NOT based on who is on the list the longest.

Yeah, but my point is that you first have to have insurance to even be considered. Thankfully, we're not at the point where strict market forces dictate who gets coveted resources, but there are people that are excluded from consideration under the current circumstances.
