Taliban behead 17 at Afghan party 'with music and dancing'

Allow me to give you an answer...

I don't want to send anyone's child anywhere. That said, children do not serve in the US Armed Forces. Our military is comprised of adult men and women who CHOSE to serve their country, and KNEW they might have to go somewhere and it might involve being shot at. If they didn't know of this risk, perhaps their parent should have done a better job of teaching them what the military does, before they became adults?

Now, let me turn the question back to you... Who's child do you want to grow up in a 5th century fanaticism where women are stoned to death for showing their faces in public and men are beheaded if they refuse to tolerate it? The child who's skin is a different color and who talks differently than you? The child who wasn't fortunate enough to be born free in a free country? Or maybe it's the child you can turn your back on while they are gassed to death and dumped in mass graves, the way people once turned their backs and looked the other way for your ancestors?

I must admit that it is hard to see what the difference is between the plight of Jews in concentration camps, even though the Allies knew perfectly well what was going on, the treatment of slaves in the South, the massacre of Tutsis by Hutus in Ruanda and the genocides of East Timorese and Cambodians.

It is indeed hard to see what the difference is. But we've always had a segment of society who wanted to see one. Even in WWII after Pearl Harbor, there were MANY who opposed our involvement. Granted, the world is full of atrocities, tyrants and oppression, and it's impossible for us to respond to it all, but when we do take action, it should be commended and not condemned.

Talking like a big daddy fool again, are you?
US children are not ordered to fight wars....never have and never will.....they are adults and volunteers and patriots......no one forces them to serve.....obviously, no one
forced you, huh ?
Even the US women that volunteer to serve have begged and fought for the right to serve in same capacity that was normally
reserved for only men.....from fighter pilots to the infantry, even the women have more courage than most of the lefty cowards.

You should know that as soon as I see your name on a post .. I skip right past it without reading it .. just like this one.

You can keep posting to me if you like. :0)

:0) That's funny. Semantics is it? The word "child" offend you? It's a term that loving parents often use for their children no matter how old they are .. especially when they're in danger. I don't expect that you'd share such an emotion.

And not that it's your business, but I taught my child to follow her instincts and do what she wants to do .. not what her father wants her to do.

And, not that it's any of your business but my baby, my child, my daughter is doing very well in the military. Very well indeed. And she attributes that to the confidence instilled in her by her father. I'm sure you don't know shit about that emotion.

I don't expect that you share that parental guidance either .. but it points to a profound difference between us.

That being said, your argument about about what women and innocents are going through and men beheaded is absolutely ridiculous .. and if you'd like, I can demonstrate how absolutely ridiculous your argument is. Yes I can.

You can keep "the way people once turned their backs and looked the other way for your ancestors" bullshit to yourself ,, or go talk to Razor X about it. You're a racist, thus I'm seriously not interested in any of your perspective on race.

Yes, and it's also a word used by people to be hyperbolic and interject undue emotion. We don't "send children" anywhere, we deploy soldiers. Brave courageous soldiers like you daughter, who made the conscious choice to join the military. Indeed, let's get the semantics straight here.

You shouldn't presume to know what other people think.

I have three adult daughters whom I am very proud of, and who have been instilled with good values and ethics. One is married to an Afghan veteran, who served his country proudly, one is a registered Democrat and supporter of Obama, and one is a staunch conservative. Thanksgivings are lively to say the least. One thing I have never done, is told them how to think or what to believe.

That being said, your argument about about what women and innocents are going through and men beheaded is absolutely ridiculous .. and if you'd like, I can demonstrate how absolutely ridiculous your argument is. Yes I can.

If you want to pretend that radical Islam doesn't stone women or behead men, then we can't have an honest discussion.

No, I am anything BUT a racist, and you know this. You continue to throw that charge out there because you think it gets under my skin, but someone named "Dixie" is quite accustomed to being called names. It doesn't bother me, but it does show me a lot about the content of your character, that you would so judge me... especially after the conversations we've had on the subject. My perspective on race is, we are ALL part of the SAME race, the HUMAN race.

I don't know what you want me to say, I very much doubt that the British Army would be that desperate to call me up at my age and as for my sons, well my oldest applied for the Royal Air Force but failed on his vision. He already has a private pilot's licence which I paid for, I hasten to add.

I advocate the use of more drones to help save lives, they are becoming more and more sophisticated and hopefully the chances of innocent casualties will be lessened in future. I fail to understand the squeamishness about casualties when it is known for certain that pulling out in 2014 will result in countless Afghans being tortured, beheaded, hanged, stoned or if they are very lucky shot.

I could go on for pages .. but THESE innocent civilians is not something of much concern to people who hold your view.

I intend no disrespect, but guess who else's opinion you don't really care about .. the Afghan people.

You don't care about that .. just as you didn't care about what the oldest and most progressive and respected women's group in Afghanistan had to say. You didn't care.

Nor do you care about all the lives that will be lost trying to do what YOU want done, not the Afghan people nor their most respected women's group, nor what the American people want done.

And you don't even know how it's going to be paid for or who gets the bill.

Well .. good luck with that brother.

I never presume that you and I are going to have an honest discussion. If it happens, I'll be surprised.

My point is not that "radical Islam" doesn't behead people .. my point is that you only care about that when you're programmed to care about it.

Direct me to your posts about how outraged you are about "radical Islam" in Saudi Arabia beheading someone. What? Don't have one?

I have much more if you need it?

I like it that you think yourself an intellectual. :0)

Save the bullshit for the clowns. You are a fucking racist.

You don't have to apologize to me.

Direct me to your posts about how outraged you are at our Founding Fathers and the US Congress and Supreme Court, who condoned and supported the institution of slavery for 85 years before the Civil War? Seems you are just as "programmed" as I am.

For the record, the Saudi government is not radical Islamic, they are threatened by radical Islam!

In other words, just walk away and let the Taliban get back to beheading men and women, stopping women having an education and medical facilities. Exactly what happened in Cambodia with Pol Pot, I'm glad that you can live with the inevitable consequences.

Sad, but that's THEIR problem Tom. Not mine. And not yours. Terrible shame that it happens, but there truly is nothing that we can do.

Do you know what I find the most offensive about that point of view? The number of times I have seen Americans on here say that the British ran away with their tails between their legs over Palestine and India and left a huge mess. Tell me what the difference is here as I'm baffled to see any? The US is gaining a reputation worldwide for starting things and then running when things get difficult. Tell me that again when the Taliban takes over in Pakistan.

Care to make an estimate as to how many will be killed when NATO leaves? I predict a massacre when the civil war starts up again but obviously you know better. I showed you an article from the Guardian saying that Afghan women are leaving in droves but you chose to ignore that as it didn't chime with your rosy coloured glasses view of the cuddly Taliban.

I was just looking at the RAWA mission statement and they want to have a secular Afghanistan, talk about wishful thinking.

Oh well what do you expect from stupid bitches?? They should have had a man write it. They really should have had you write it!

I know, let's drop bombs on their children and force our idea of freedom on them at gunpoint even though they said please go!

That'll learn em. Sometimes you gotta get rough with a bitch. Well, you'd know.

Well, I can't comment since I don't share that point of view. Those weren't/aren't your problems.

Your argument is just silly.

How is what you want going to be accomplished? You don't have a clue.

Given all the information and questions that you've ignored .. your claim about "rose-colored glasses" is equally silly.

I've made lots of posts about my opposition to the institution of slavery and all those who were responsible .. including in posts I've made to you.

Strange you hold such a different view of Saudis who behead people .. which demonstrates that beheading people was never your real argument in the first place.

Thanks for playing

No, when I made that point, you told me I was expressing a racist view you didn't agree with and refused to talk about it further. When I tried to explain that it wasn't my view but history itself, you continued to call me a racist and claimed we had different perceptions.

The Saudi government and royal family, does not saw people's heads off while praising Allah. Sorry.. just ain't happening. There are elements of radical Islam in Saudi Arabia, and they have allowed the spread of radicalism through their schools. But how is their complacency any worse than our own... I mean, here we have people giving you evidence that radical Islamics masturbate themselves on little girls, and others claiming there is nothing we can do. I'm not sure which makes me more sick to my stomach.
