suck it oil pipeline....done

maybe we will have to divert the funds that were intended for Planned Parenthood's child killing venture to reimburse the pipeline company for the millions we made them waste over the last three years......that would be a small price to pay to prevent the million to one odds that oil might have gotten into a water supply.......

I have rarely met anybody so obsessed about abortion, especially as it doesn't affect you in the slightest.

the American taxpayers, Desh.....you remember them, right?......the people who elected Trump president, gave the Congress to Republican control and will pick all the new SC justices?........

more taxpayers voted for Hilary you fucking evil traitor to democracy

I gotta go with desh and the left on this one.....running an oil pipeline under a lake or river is just too dangerous.....I'm surprised Obama didn't step in

against this proposal years ago....he must have or should have known the pipeline route long ago and should have seen this potential danger....

he screwed up again and it took the Army Corps of Engineers to bail him out....but he'll gladly accept the credit

It is a safe technology, as this video shows!

Interesting.....but I thought deep sea drilling was pretty safe too.....still, if there is a safer way, even if more expensive, it should be considered....
let Canada pay for it

Nothing is 100% safe but I am damn sure that they have sophisticated telemetry systems that can detect leaks very quickly and shut the pipeline down. It surely can't be safer to send oil via rail as they do now? Of course you must be aware that most of those protesters are eco warriors who turn up to protest regardless. We have shedloads of the buggers over here protesting fracking.

America depends on a network of more than 185,000 miles of liquid petroleum pipelines, nearly 320,000 miles of gas transmission pipelines, and more than 2 million miles of gas distribution pipelines.

True, but a leak in a pipeline across land would be more contained and easier to clean up...IF the safguards shut down the pipeline quickly.

and I agree shipped by rail is also dangerous considering one tank car can hold 25 to 30 thousand gallons.....

Although the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has standard baseline incident frequencies to estimate the number of spills, TransCanada altered these assumptions based on improved pipeline design, operation, and safety.[SUP][43][/SUP] Whether these adjustments are justified is debatable as these assumptions resulted in a nearly 10-fold decrease in spill estimates.[SUP][42][/SUP] Given that the pipeline crosses 247 miles of the Ogallala Aquifer,[SUP][44][/SUP] or 14.5% of the entire pipeline length, and the 50-year life of the entire pipeline is expected to have between 11 – 91 spills,[SUP][42][/SUP] approximately 1.6 – 13.2 spills can be expected to occur over the aquifer. An estimate of 13.2 spills over the aquifer, each lasting 14 days, results in 184 days of potential exposure over the 50 year lifetime of the pipeline. In the reduced scope ‘worst case exposure scenario,’ the volume of a pinhole leak at 1.5% of max flow-rate for 14 days has been estimated at 189,000 barrels or 7.9 million gallons of oil.[SUP][42][/SUP] According to PHMSA’s incident database,[SUP][45][/SUP] only 0.5% of all spills in the last 10 years were >10,000 barrels.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipeline_transport

I'm not a tree hugger but the safest way to transport oil is the best way....we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one....

Truth? The pipeline will be well under construction if not finished by the end of 2017. Why? The White House, The Senate, Congress and SCOTUS. :) The tree huggers will be dozed under, climate change will not be funded by tax payer dollars, no more tax credits for over priced under producing green energy firms....game over. There's a new day dawning in the United States of America because the left could not steal this last election.
