A group of students at a Seattle-area school were suspended recently for bringing Nerf guns to school, even though they were allegedly instructed by a teacher to do so. The guns were part of a probability project, set to be fired 100 times. Naturally, though, the kids decided to "try them out," and were immediately suspended. Oh, and two other kids who didn't bring the guns to school, but who "participated," were also suspended. (We guess there's a scorched-earth policy on the books.) Since this is a thing, can we please start arresting all insufferable pranksters with Nerf guns at the office? [Source]

Are you kidding me? This happened in Washington. It is one more in a series of fucking moronic left wing anti-gun policies. Kids getting suspended for making guns with their fingers, biting a pop-tart so it looks like a gun, wearing a t-shirt to school, and this. These are not the policies of a right wing political agenda, they have their own stupid shit, this is what happens when gun fraidy cats make rules about anything that remotely looks like a gun. Hell, I hear most liberal state school boards are petitioning to have Idaho removed from the map because on its side it looks KINDA like a gun.

Sounds more like a left coast thing than a liberal thing. Why needlessly add fuel to the fire?

If you read through the site I linked to earlier, it is very much not a left/right thing

Unless Garland, TX is considered a left-wing haven? (I don't know, just don't think there are a lot of left-wingers in charge of school districts in Texas)
ee, a reader in Texas, knows that such rules do get out of hand:
"In Garland, Texas, about a year or so ago, a boy was suspended from school under a similar 'zero tolerance' policy -- for forming his hand in the shape of a pistol. The Gestapo, er uh, police said that he was 'engaging in terrorist activity.'

Most of Dallas and the surrounding burbs are left leaning. It's Fort Worth and the surrounding burbs there that are right leaning.

That's a stupid argument. I could make the argument that this is the result of some ultra conservadouche (thanks Grind) authoritarian administration that will brook no disobedience or non-conformance with rules what so ever. That argument probably has far more truth and reality backing it up than yours does

Are areas like Highland Park and University Park around SMU more left-leaning? I know Dallas is more left-leaning. I wasn't aware Ft. Worth was more right-leaning but I can see that. I was in both Dallas and Ft. Worth this past weekend. I stayed at that Hilton in Ft. Worth where JFK stayed the night before he was shot.

Nice evasion. Could you now try to answer her question?
You're right Mott, these loony anti-finger gun policies are concocted by the right because they are so anti-gun. What was I thinking. What I really think is anti-gun fraidy cats are even so embarrassed by this stupid shit but they can't bring themselves to criticize it for fear of looking like they approve of guns.

highland is about 50/50. university park is more left leaning due to SMU and the surrounding community college populations.

Jesus dude....I've been to Texas. That's like calling Fascist Italy "left leaning" compared to Nazi Germany. LOL

'been to texas' and 'living in texas' gives two different perspectives. While you may have 'been' here and seen things that lead you to believe dallas leans right, I 'live' here and can most assuredly tell you that dallas and surrounding burbs lean left.
