Stupid Fucking Liberals!

One can come to California and if you visit only certain parts of Orange County you could come away thinking California is one of the most right-leaning states in the U.S.

somebody could have lost an eye and those nerf guns look a lot like real guns

yeah!

'been to texas' and 'living in texas' gives two different perspectives. While you may have 'been' here and seen things that lead you to believe dallas leans right, I 'live' here and can most assuredly tell you that dallas and surrounding burbs lean left.
Lean left compared to Ft. Worth? No argument. Lean left compared to most of the nations metropolitan areas? Not hardly. Autsin is pretty much like a midwestern capital city and Dallas is way to the right of Austin.

Why are you blaming this on liberals? I'm unaware of it being a partisan issue.

Good site for the stupidity of zero tolerance laws:
http://www.thisistrue.com/zt.html

Next time, hopefully the teacher asks them to bring ping pong balls to throw.

i also object to his use of profanity (especially to a whole group). does it even occur to soc that the policy might be being carried out by conservatives

You're right Mott, these loony anti-finger gun policies are concocted by the right because they are so anti-gun. What was I thinking. What I really think is anti-gun fraidy cats are even so embarrassed by this stupid shit but they can't bring themselves to criticize it for fear of looking like they approve of guns.
....and those looney right wing authoritarian zero tolerance policies that brook no descent was concocted by the left because they are so afraid of a diversity of opinion. Personally I think it's anti-free thinking authoritarian conservadouches who are scared to death of the tiniest nonconformity as a direct threat to the basic fundamental structure of civilization it self that any non conformance to their arbitrary rules makes them so scared that they have to pee themselves in fear.

In other words your argument is bullshit and your logic is deeply flawed. Now please, Answer her question. How is this a partisan issue?

6. 99 Problems – Republicans interfering with our right to vote and calling it progress is the last thing we need, especially when there are pressing crises throughout the black community that need to be addressed. Take for example, the Schools-to-Prison Pipeline, which the ACLU has called “one of the most important civil rights challenges facing our nation today.” The Pipeline refers to the national trend of criminalizing, rather than educating, our nation’s children. Instead of championing Poll Tax 2.0, Republicans should join Democrats in revising the zero-tolerance polices, which the American Bar Association condemned because they “redefined students as criminals.” Zero-tolerance laws leave no room for common sense, paint good students with the same broad brush reserved for real troublemakers, and do little to improve school safety. When more than half of juveniles arrested are minority children, something needs to be done. If Republicans bring the same passion to ending the Schools-to-Prison Pipeline as they have to misguided voter ID laws, that would go a long ways toward ingratiating themselves to the black community.

Sounds like Repubs are pushing them more than Dems based on that article

However, I still think it's not a partisan issue. I think its the type of issue where it sounds good to thump the podium and say you're for zero tolerance, and then the schools have to follow the policies set by the school board. If someone campaigned for school board running against them, they might be painted as soft on crime and lose. Not sure if these rules are enacted at school board level or higher; probably depends.

Really wish this thread wasn't titled so erroneously because I do think zero tolerance penalties in schools are not good. I also don't think mandatory sentencing guidelines are useful. We need our administrators and judges to have some discretion.

Sigh...sorry... guess that soapbox crept out of the closet again! BAD soapbox, BAD soapbox!

Yes....and breaking rules, no matter how arbitrary or senseless is a direct threat to civilization itself and must be met with an overwhelming force!

it is an american obligation and duty to ignore any unjust law or rule, no matter how damning to society the results may be.

"there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws." MLK Jr.

Relax. That was a rhetorical statement. I was making an example by using the same flawed logic Soc was using.

Tekky rawks. With the permission of we members of the Klub, she is officially a member!

Btw...the only portion of Texas that's liberal is Austin. It's also the most intelligent city in the state. Go figure.
