Who told you that?
Should they not?
Who told you that?
You don't get to make that determination, do you?
Should they not?
Nope, our law enforcement does.
"Should they not" told you that?
So, not you, as I thought.
Well, they broke the law. They belong in prison, yes? Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!
The point is priority of law enforcement should be based on who it actually hurts. Our law enforcement does not have the resources to catch every single petty little criminal due to technicalities in the law just because legislatures are either too busy (or more often too lazy) to repeal outdated laws. Luckily most of our law enforcement does not tend to follow your thought process on this and you are protected from being brutally ass-raped by a violent criminal because that's where their resources tend to be concentrated and they catch most of those.
Nor you and CFM thank god
Should police resources be focused on catching violent criminals like murderers and rapists rather than people who eat fried chicken with a fork or play bingo too long, yes or no?
That's the inevitable result of what he said. If cops enforced all laws to the letter all the time, their resources, our court system, and our prison system would not be able to handle the real criminals and anarchy would ensue. Why do you think such laws are not enforced anymore?
That's up to the police.
Should police resources be focused on catching violent criminals like murderers and rapists rather than people who eat fried chicken with a fork or play bingo too long, yes or no?
I gave a punishment option. The sad part is I'm punishing those at the location to which they'll go.
Again, you're deciding what should and shouldn't be done and last time I looked, that's not within your scope of authority. If you want something changed you don't like, there are processes for doing that. If you're too lazy or stupid to go about it the proper way, whining that they are stupid and complaining when laws you say are ridiculous are followed is as valid as someone that doesn't vote thinking their opinion on what elected officials that get in office by people voting do carries any weight.
Trippy's problem is that he thinks he has the authority to say whether or not a law if followed based solely on his dislike of it.
As to his question about where police should focus their time, what makes him think they can't do both?
He seems to think he's an authority on police resources and procedure, doesn't he?I go through the processes. I vote, I petition, I vote on ballot initiatives and donate to organizations that educate voters on my positions. But this is a debate site, where we debate our opinions on how this country should be run. If you don't think that's appropriate you are on the wrong site. *shrug*
Why can't they do both?
Why can't they do both?

That's up to the police.
If you don't like the laws in force where you live, try to change them
If you don't like the laws in force where you don't live, keep whining about them online.
Has a discussion on a so-called "debate site" ever changed a law or led to a law being changed, in your experience?

Seems like they do. I'm not aware of any murderers or rapists who escaped arrest because Stormy Daniels got busted. Are you?
