I have never once stated that I want to force you not to fly your flag. That's the problem with talking to a foreigner such as yourself. I call out your foreign flag, and you immediately assume that means I want your property confiscated. Welcome to America, sonny. In this country, it is the character of the citizenry that counts the most, and if you had any, you wouldn't fly that flag.

Uh, yeah, I believe in democracy. Do you know why the Southern Swastika came down in South Carolina? It was the will of the people. Again, not necessarily something you can relate to.

I don't care about monument to rank and file rebels. But they should not be equated with a legitimate army fighting for honor and country. They were rebels and traitors fighting against the United States on behalf of a slave economy.

Their rebel leaders, those most responsible for treason and rebellion, certainly have no place being memorialized on American soil.

most had allegiance to their state. Robert E. Lee is the classic ex.
He turned down command of the Union Army because he had more allegiance to his home state.

From what I've gathered watching things like Ken Burns Civil War there was also the hate of
being told what to do by the Yankees. If you want to conflate that to "supporting slavery" you can-
i think it's more about their brand of nationalism.

For ex. it was more common to say "These United States" before the war, then afterwards.

The people didn't get to vote on it.

The flag once flew over the Statehouse dome. It came down through a compromise between those that wanted it to stay and those that wanted it to go away. The compromise was to put it on a memorial on Statehouse grounds. The very minute it went up, one party to the compromise starting crying like pussies for it to be removed despite having agreed to the compromise.
