Starbucks raises worker wages except if unionized

Their labor issues will always be there. The service industry is a horrible place to work.

Actually, being in the working class at all is a horrible way to live if we're being honest.
We muddle through it, but do the rewards actually adequately compensate the travails--ever?

The main thing about Starbucks is that their coffee tastes totally burnt to me.
I prefer Dunkin Donuts coffee by a substantial margin. I even drink their K cups at home.

We now all know why you refused to link up your false claims

Pay attention to future quarterly results, which will continue to break out Chinese sales.

You will see a downward trend as hate for America continues ramps up, propelled by the Party.

Then the Union will have no problem negotiating 15 an hour for the union workers

Even if they get $15 an hour, the dues the members pay reduce their take home pay below that. That's why they'd have to negotiate a $15.50 to $16 an hour wage to make up for union dues and such. Sucks to be union all of a sudden doesn't it?

Kevin was going to offer no resistance to unionization, betting that once there were more than a few unionized workers everyone would see that being unionized is not in their best interest. This is because unionized workers can not pick up extra shifts in non union stores, and can not easily move and change homestores as they do now. Also they will have to deal with all of the union BS, and we all know that over the last 50 years it has been the norm that unions are deeply corrupt.

Howard was not going to have that, he says that Starbucks has to fight now.

The Board sided with Howard.

One factor explaining Starbucks' increasing interest in China is the superior return on investment. At its shareholder meeting, Starbucks highlighted that stores opened in China delivered a 70% return on investment in their first year. That's in contrast to an ROI of 55% for stores opened in the U.S. Locations in the U.S. and China deliver roughly the same amount of sales, so the benefits are rising from lower operations costs in China.

These are the facts

This is not even Starbucks biggest problem, it is that they bet big on China but China is rapidly turning Anti-American and refusing America products and brands. Sales in China are sinking fast even as Starbucks rushes to add more stores in China, not understanding the situation.

This was utter crap

Pay attention to Chinese propaganda, which increasingly paints spending money at Starbucks rather than a fully Chinese firm as unpatriotic.

Why would the Ukraine attack by Russia effect coffee shops in China?

All China has to do is close those shops idiot

It’s a dictatorship

You are an idiot

You were wrong

I proved it with facts

And you are flailing to cover your lies

You idiots never admit when you are wrong

Your failures as decent human beings

Minus respect the points for you

On the plus side I happen to know that Starbucks would not collapse if they were forced to zero out all of their massive investment in China (it could happen) ....It would really hurt but they could manage. I dont happen to know why as late as two weeks ago Starbucks was found still doubling down on investing in China even as corporations generally give up on China, seeing the writing on the wall as China goes all in on creating an anti-Western world order now.

I think maybe where Starbucks goes wrong is that they think that all of the Chinese youth which have flooded into our Universities over the last few decades will die loving Starbucks as they remember America fondly. But as I think it was VDH said recently we are always thinking that our openness and generosity and constantly selling multiculturalism is leading the Chinese by example, and that they love us for it, where as in reality they see this as a weakness to exploit for the glory of the Empire.

I have long noted that Howard has some massive blind spots.

Yep, Starbucks just announced they're going to raise their non-union worker's wages to $15 an hour. At unionized locations, workers will continue to receive their current wages.

So, why would Starbucks corporate management do this? Because at union locations the union members and union have to negotiate a contract with the employer for their terms and conditions of work. This means union members will continue to receive their current wages (about $12 to $14 depending on location) until a new contract is negotiated. Even then, it is possible they could receive less compensation, and they'd have to make close to $16 an hour to end up with $15 an hour after paying their union dues...
Which proves that unions work.

Thanks for playing.

Gonna quote T. A. Gardner here. Its Pretty obvious you didn't read it.

There's also the matter of a slight increase in taxes, and some of that lovely benefits package might disappear to pay for the raises. Hell, Starbucks was putting a friend of mine through college!

So I ask you, why bother? Then again, the border is fucking wide open so a more pliant workforce is readily available. Can you say "Bienvenido a Starbucks"?
