So tomatoes are being plowed under, and John Deere is laying off thousands of Americans

Are they really job losses if there are Americans that will do the work? I could see your argument if there weren't so many unemployed American's out there.
ROFLMAO.
They are job losses until someone actually is hired to do the work.

How many unemployed Americans do you think there are? How many job openings do you think there are?

The current statistics say there are just over 7 million unemployed and just over 7 million job openings. There are currently only enough unemployed people to fill the current job openings. Creating more job openings doesn't create more people.

We have gotten lucky with avian flu so far. That could kill 10 to 20% of us. That would effect me.
There's already vaccines being stocked up. I do my best to encourage the MAGAts to stay away from vaccines and doctors in general. It's best for the nation if we winnow the herd of all the stupid people. It's wrong to force it upon citizens, but if they self-select, I'm good with it. LOL

One reason avian flu is a problem in the US is because egg producers don't vaccinate their birds for export reasons. France does, which is why they don't have an egg shortage. In the US, it's all about the money. LOL

While other countries have used vaccines as part of their strategy to control outbreaks of the highly pathogenic H5N1 virus, the U.S. remains on the sidelines, citing trade concerns and logistical challenges.

Well then come here legally to work...
That makes zero sense as a response to my comment.

If Congress would stop playing political football with the issue and create an efficient, effective guest worker system, the border issue would disappear as a political issue.

Try to put more thought into your commentary.

Eggs aren't $6 a dozen and Waffle House doesn't add a surcharge for eggs....

Why wasn't that done in the past...instead of flinging the door open wide and creating the disaster that we have now?

Tomatoes? only idiots think our crops are still picked by hand. Less than 20% are, and that by no means requires illegal aliens living here year round, But Walt is a dumbass who has never even seen a farm in his life, much less knows anything about American agriculture.

iceberg lettuce is one of the most useless vegetables there is, no nutritional value and sucks up lots of water. Tomatoes aren't particularly good either. Walt and Douche are just idiots, is all.
Wally is pissed about his bad investment choices and Mr. Tiny Penis is just a malcontent.

More and more Americans are learning why MAGA morons are earning their name if all they do is read posts by JPP's MAGAts.

‘Can’t even afford to pick them’: Florida farmers are now plowing over perfectly good tomatoes as Trump tariff policies cause prices to plummet and workers to flee. How farmers are reacting

Tony DiMare’s family owns 4,000 acres of tomato farms across Florida and California. Sadly, his Florida crops are not looking good — mowed over and left to rot, like tomato vines across the state.

But it’s not growing conditions that are the problem. It’s economic ones.

DiMare told WSVN 7 Miami that President Donald Trump’s tariff and immigration policies are driving farmers to abandon their crops.

In January, he warned that Trump’s crackdown on migrants would squeeze farmers, who rely on migrants to pick produce.

“We have to secure our borders south and north, but you have to have a workforce in this country,” he told the Financial Post.

Deportations devastate farm workforce

About 50% of farm workers in the U.S. are undocumented migrants — including skilled supervisors and machine operators — according to Farmonaut, a farm technology company....

...The labor shortage also means Florida farmers have to pay more for labor. At the same time, they’re getting less money for their produce due to Trump’s tariff policies.

Good. I do not accept the argument that we need illegal farm workers.
Can I get deported if I have a work permit?

Anybody who is not a citizen can potentially be deported. If she is lawful permanent resident or asylee, she likely won't be deported. If she is an illegal immigrant who was given a work permit through various programs created by prior administrations, then yes, she will probably be deported.Jun 6, 2025

A 10% death rate, among the alt right, would be a major political shift in America. I certainly would never try to convince the alt right not to take vaccines, but...

Violates every principle of economics. Pay the price and someone will do the work.
And pay how much more for food? Many of these people are living in squalor in their home nations. Living under conditions that we view as sub par, are actually acceptable for these hard working migrant workers.

There are no end of Americans willing to work at John Deere. That is why the people at John Deere are being laid off. They want to work there, but cannot, because of trump tariffs.

Again with the tomatoes, the tariffs has flooded the US market early with Mexican tomatoes which make it impossible to sell American tomatoes. If farmers cannot sell their tomatoes, why pay anyone to pick them... Whether they are here legally or not.

Florida tomatoes are picked by machine, not by hand. These are skilled workers who are actually paid a respectable wage, though it still is long hours. Many are illegal aliens, but the majority are here legally. That being said, everyone is scared. ICE actually attacked a US Marshal, because he was dressed sloppy, and had darker skin. Even legal Australian farm workers are fleeing Florida, because it is getting scary there.

Won't laying off thousands of Americans who work at John Deere mean higher unemployment? Won't not even picking the tomatoes lead to higher unemployment?

I am at a loss to think of any way this benefits America. Can you help explain how it does?

With the John Deere jobs, those were almost entirely Americans. Not just Americans, but the whitest Americans you will ever see.

The agriculture jobs that have been lost due to tariffs are a more mixed lot. There are many Americans, both established and not established that do the jobs. There are also legal and illegal immigrants that do the jobs. There are a large number of Australians who come up during their winter to work in the USA, and then go back to Australia during their farming season.

I get paid far more to do my job, and I am better at my job. I have no training in farming, and it does require training. So basically the same reason I am not a medical doctor. It is not my job.
I am not scared. And this is what happens when democrats fail to protect our borders. This is on you. Trump is fixing your fuck up. You are welcome

World hunger must be over if we're plowing under produce.

Fucked up things happen routinely in a fucked up society.

A society that chooses a pigfucking orangutan as its leader
can reasonably be designated as fucked up.
A nasty fact about the world: we do not have a shortage of food. Everyone could be fed. It would cost money, and the starving people do not have money, so someone else would have to provide that money. And there in lies the problem.

It gets worse, trump is allowing food we already bought to rot in the warehouses, which saves no money, and kills people.
