So now MAGA wants to pay to teach kids how to shoot a bow and arrow?

Aren't any types of weapons banned at public schools? They were in my day. So, they want a whole class involving weapons? Sure, what could go wrong with giving a kid a bow and arrow?

It's taught in school, scouts, etc. Archery is an ancient skill. It's faded out in popularity over the years but had a resurgence with Katniss and the Hunger Game movies.

How do you have archery if weapons are banned? Is it an after-school activity only? I could see a few liability cases making lawyers drool.

Controlled environment? Special dispensation? It's not like they go to Mrs. Roger's Social Studies class with their bow and quiver. :)

That being said, I was overjoyed in my senior year in h.s. when we were finally allowed to choose what sports/activities we could do in the mandatory PE classes. There was archery, golf, tennis, swimming. I picked archery, something I'd already been doing for years on my own. It was real archery, with recurve bows, rather than those ugly compound hunting things.

As for your, our, generation, back then single-motherhood was looked on as a bad thing whether it was by design or accident. Most families didn't have both parents working, divorce was far less common and had negative connotations attached, and a somewhat stable homelife was more the norm. Kids got to explore the world and do things that were less than 100% safe on a regular basis.

Leftists have already pulled funding for a lot of activities in schools that we enjoyed when we were in school. It seems they forgot there were no grocery stores 100-150 years ago, and if a person or family was to survive, they had to learn to hunt, fish and grow their own food. I guess they would rather teach young kids they can pick their own sex.

Pennsylvania hasn't been "wilderness" since the 1600s. If the school did offer such a course, it was as an elective. Missouri now requires new would-be hunters (I believe the cut-off date is born after 1967) to take a required safety course before getting their hunting license. But it isn't offered at school.
