So Libs... What's the economic plan for $10 gal. gasoline?

Yes, AssHat, the end game is close.

Here's something you might find interesting.

(Excerpt) Nothing has so clearly demonstrated the reasons for the Second
Amendment and the reasons it must be defended than when on Dec. 14,1981,when Gen. Jaruzelski declared martial law in Poland, placed all press under total government control, and declared all firearms licenses and gun registration certificates void — requiring the licensed owners to turn in their registered guns within 48 hours. Of course, since the government knew where every gun was — except those in the hands of criminals — they had no choice but to comply.

Author's Note: This is a lesson that we hope to learn only from reading and
not in the manner learned by the Poles and Lithuanians. After reading the
above, I hope you will agree with me that anyone who attempts to subvert the Second Amendment or any other section or legal amendment of the Constitution is a traitor and should be arrested and tried for treason. I hope that you will copy this chapter and distribute it as widely as possible, to as many people as possible. Education is more than half the battle.
In case you have not guessed by now, the fact that most Americans own at least one firearms weapon is the only thing that has kept the New World Order at bay.

The fact that you of all people are quoting Knox is both heart warming and frightening at the same time.

I'm a Liberal who believes everyone should own a gun. Well, not the insane but just about everyone. It would drastically cut down on crime.

Sure, some innocent people will be killed but any thief or crook or mugger will realize they may die if they commit a crime.

Look back at the "old days". Caught stealing and the person ended up with a bullet. Mess with the wrong person and it's light's out.

Now where did I park my horse?

Yes, I'm aware. We've had the discussion before. But such a combination is exceedingly rare, ESPECIALLY from a Canadian.

lol.... true... but you stated it wasn't due to the turmoil... THAT is where you were wrong. It is the turmoil that is causing speculation to increase

True, but if the price wasn't driven by speculators, a 50% drop in output of 1.5% of the daily supply for a couple days would not cause a 15% increase.

As I have so astutely pointed out (several times now), if speculators drive the price, then announcing new domestic drilling and exploration, should create the speculation that we'll have more oil in the future, which would drive the price down. Are you ignoring this fact of life for some particular reason, or just because you are a pinhead who doesn't want to face the facts?

Dune... there is a bit more going on in the Mid East. It is not just Libya.... and it most certainly isn't a response to 'just a couple days disruption'. You are looking at what HAS happened and saying 'that is not enough to justify the move'.

In that, you are correct. The move is not coming off of what HAS happened, but rather the UNCERTAINTY of what WILL HAPPEN.

The concerns are: (note: this is just SOME of what is going on, it is not meant to be all inclusive)

1) Who takes over in Egypt and thus controls the Suez

2) What happens in Saudi (this is the big uncertainty given their oil production)

3) What happens in Iran (this could be a big plus if the clerics lose control)

4) Do the regimes in the mid east that cooperated with the US/Europe fall? or survive?

5) What happens in Libya, Bahrain, Yemen?

6) Does the unrest in the mideast spill over to China?

All of these questions are a part of the uncertainty that started with Tunisia. Everyone is trying to guess how big this is going to get. Given the amount of oil in the region, that is why we are seeing such a spike.

After reading through this whole thing I think Oncelor and Superfreak's suggestions combined produce some of the more viable solutions. Imagine that, taking ideas from one side and from the other to come up with a plan. Suppose anything like that would ever happen in Washington D.C.? :(

But Onceler keeps voting for Democrats, who have no interest in drilling and nukes.

and gas jumps .13 cents from yesterday to today.

Exactly, and we can probably expect this through the summer. If Saudi Arabia goes up in flames, forget about it... if we can FIND gas at ANY price, we'll be lucky.

I really just wanted to know out of curiosity, what the Libs had in mind for how to recover our economy when gas goes to $10 a gallon. What I am hearing, is a bunch of the same grandiose dreams of some alternative fuel that is going to save the day, billions (or trillions) of dollars to convert the infrastructure, and apparently, we're going to have to pay for converting the poor, they can't afford to do this.... but HOW are we going to do any of this, if our economy is in the crapper, and we have no jobs or money? 20...30 years ago, maybe we could have taken action on such a plan, and by now, we wouldn't be in this predicament, but we didn't. And as nice as all of this sounds, it can't be done overnight, and it certainly can't be done if we sink into a depression.

your going to see a lot higher than $4.25 this summer as any changes are way to late to affect this year. Nice for a guy who has nothing to do with it call what's fair.
