Chrisit is a traditional establishment Republican. He certainly has the qualifications for executive leadership. Technically speaking he's farther to the right than Mitt Romney. I think Christie would govern reasonably and competently. I don't have the justified fear that I had with W that the job would overwhelm him.

Having said that I have the same concern with him that I had with Romney. Will the primary process and the base pull him so far to the right that I could not in good conscience vote for the man?

unfortunately, that is where the money and the votes are for the repugs, and by the end of the convention he will be labeled far right whether he is or not

i do not know how much weight he needs to shed, but the lap band method may not be sufficient. i know that my bariatric surgeon strongly recommended the gastric bypass to me and i chose to follow his advice. in any case, i wish him the best of luck shedding the weight that would kill him if he did not shed it.

i liked the way that he and obama worked together for the new jersey victims.

having said that, i still want hilary as the next president. we need a female president and i think that she is the best candidate on the horizon. warren would be next in line, i just do not know how electable she is.

however, thanks to repug gerrymandering and voter id restrictions, the repugs will likely retain control of the house. but, if they kill the immigration bill, i think they will seriously damage their party's chances in 2014 and 2016.

two things need to happen to keep the dims in power, a steadily growing economy and a successful aca/obamacare. so far the recalcitrant do nothing house is continuing to damage the repug cause.

I'm not about to vote for anyone based on their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc, etc. I'm voting for the most qualified person who I feel is the most capable executive that best reflects my values. If that happens to be Hilliary fine. I have no problem with that though I do have to admit that electing a woman right after a black man my do in a fair number of wingnuts. It might be more than they can handle.

i used to be a repug, however, when the religious right hijacked the party and the repugs stopped being about personal freedom and fiscal responsibility, i left...the current repug leadership are moving the party further and further from mainstream america

We are all consider ourselves fiscal conservatives except some of us realize what policies actually work and what don't. Cutting taxes on the rich HAS NEVER STIMULATED THE ECONOMY. NEVER. Milton Friedman was wrong. Forty years of economic data testify to that. Democratic administrations and their policies have created 20 million more jobs than Republicans over the same period. That is a fucking fact. Show me any credible data that austerity and tax cuts grow the economy?

Are you a social conservative? Sorry, the country is changing. There are still places in the world very intolerant of gays and gay marriage and women's rights, consider moving.

Boris, just address this one fact: almost everyone agrees that Ronald Reagan would be run out of the Republican party as it stands today. How do you blame that on liberals? Do you know see what the right wing zealotry has done to a once sane platform?

the repugs know that they need to expand their base, but they cannot seem to get past their present base to do so. especially with their bought and paid for tea party along with the religious social engineering prone right.

i would have thought that the last election would have taught them that at least, but all they appear to have learned is to use the organizational skills demonstrated by the dims and figure that is all they need.

Uhhh ,, excuse me .. but after the 2014 midterms, republicans could very well be in control of the House and Senate with Obama as a lame duck president.

I know, I know .. republicans are stupid. But if they're so stupid, how did they put themselves in position to control both houses just 5 years after all the excitement about Obama?

Easy .. democratic cowardice opened that door.

Christie is the governor of a blue state and has lots of democratic support. After the smoke and mirrors of Obama clears, it leaves democrats without a brand. They can no longer claim to be what democrats have traditionally stood for. Many who ran to vore for Obama will be demoralized.

Perhaps democrats need to take that slow walk past the mirror before they rant about how dumb republicans are.
