Snopes got Snoped! Not who you think...

I understand completely.....during those two years they had a total change in their outlook and purpose.....

The Challenge was about giving millions of dollars to help out schools. Funny you aren't applauding this, considering the way you cons are always bitching about the public school system in the US.

"On December 17, 1993, the 85-year-old Annenberg announced his five-year $500 million "Challenge to the Nation" at a ceremony in the Roosevelt Room of the White House with President Bill Clinton, Secretary of Education Richard Riley, Gregorian, Sizer, Kearns, and Frank Newman, Illinois Governor Jim Edgar and Colorado Governor Roy Romer (the president, outgoing and incoming chairman, respectively, of the Denver-based bipartisan Education Commission of the States (ECS).[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][5][/SUP]

Annenberg announced that he was giving $113 million over five years to three national school reform organizations:[SUP][4][/SUP][SUP][6][/SUP]

  1. $50 million to a new Annenberg Institute for School Reform (AISR) at Brown University that would incorporate the CES and be chaired by Sizer
  2. $57 million to the NASDC, chaired by Kearns
  3. $6 million to the ECS (chaired by Edgar and then Romer, with president Newman) to disseminate NASDC models for restructuring schools

The remaining $387 million was for: school reform in the largest urban school systems, attended by a third of the 47 million public school students in the U.S.; for school reform in rural schools which make up a quarter of all public schools, attended by 1 in 8 public school students in the U.S.; and for arts education.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][4][/SUP]

the Challenge was about giving a job to Ayer's protege.......

from your link....
The founding Board of Directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge as announced in 1995 were:[38][39]

Patricia Albjerg Graham
Barack Obama, civil rights attorney at Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland; lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School; member of the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation and the Woods Fund of Chicago; winner, Crain's Chicago Business 40 Under 40 award, 1993; former president of the Harvard Law Review (1990–1991); former executive director of the Developing Communities Project (June 1985–May 1988); current President of the United States[24][40][41][42]
Barack Obama, elected by the Board of Directors as founding chairman and president of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (1995–1999), resigned as chairman and president in September 1999 to run as a candidate in the 2000 Democratic primary for the 1st Congressional District of Illinois, and was succeeded by Edward Bottum (1999–2001).
and
Chicago School Reform Collaborative

The founding members of Chicago School Reform Collaborative announced in 1995 were:[38]

William Ayers
final results showed us what we should have known about Obama's administrative skills....

An August 2003 final technical report of the Chicago Annenberg Research Project by the Consortium on Chicago School Research said that while "student achievement improved across Annenberg Challenge schools as it did across the Chicago Public School system as a whole, results suggest that among the schools it supported, the Challenge had little impact on school improvement and student outcomes, with no statistically significant differences between Annenberg and non-Annenberg schools in rates of achievement gain, classroom behavior, student self-efficacy, and social competence."[59]

As I said, Christie... You can spend time saying that the group that ran both of them doesn't have an association to Obama, but the reality is he worked there, they know him, and this Foundation just isn't that frickin' large that they lose people like the President into obscurity. They have a political agenda and people that worked for them running for President aren't "lost" in the crowd.

They are on his "side" and are willing to do nearly anything to say he's right. factcheck.org hides it better, but they are the MSDNC, or Desh, of "fact" checking. They are just another liberal branch of the "fourth institution".

Snopes got Snoped! Snopes is run by a man and a woman with no background in investigation using Google. Snopes.com has been considered the ‘tell-all final word’ on any comment, claim and email. Once negative article by them and people point and say, “See, I told you it wasn’t true!” But what is Snopes? What are their methods and training that gives them the authority to decide what is true and what is not? For several years people have tried to find out who exactly was behind the website Snopes.com. Only recently did they get to the bottom of it. Are you ready for this? It is run by a husband and wife team – that’s right, no big office of investigators scouring public records in Washington, no researchers studying historical stacks in libraries, no team of lawyers reaching a consensus on current case law. No, Snopes.com is just a mom-and-pop operation that was started by two people who have absolutely no formal background or experience in investigative research.

"Snopes.com has been considered the ‘tell-all final word’ on any comment, claim and email."

Anyone who considered or does consider "Snopes.com the tell-all final word" is an idiot. For that matter, anyone who considers any single source, except a first hand source, the tell-all final word is an idiot!

The Annenberg Foundation and its myriad projects and fund recipients are all a part of a vast left-wing conspiracy to discredit right-wing chain emailers.

Who or what is Snopes?

Who or what is Snopes?

You will see many links to snopes.com here supposedly "discrediting" emails, etc. that claim one thing or another. Most of the time they do a decent job telling people about urban myths, etc. but their "factchecking" on political issues leaves much to be desired.

OIC.

Anyone who debunks the emails claiming that Obama is a secret Islamist, or was born in Canada or the like is a member of a secret communist plot to take over the United States and make Southern Men marry gay Jewish men from New York.
