The Interstate System is the safest road system in the country, with a fatality rate of 0.8—compared with 1.46 for all roads. Yet that same system has the highest speeds in the nation. There is no correlation between speed and getting into accidents. Yes, if an accident does occur for other reasons--failure to yield and inattention being the leading causes--speed plays a role in the severity of that accident. But speed alone is rarely the cause of an accident.
Absolutely correct. It is poor driving that causes problems, such as parking your ass in the left lane....such as exiting to the right from the left lane...such as weaving through traffic.
