Simple solution to gas shortage. National speed limit to 45 mph. SAVE LIVES TOO

The Interstate System is the safest road system in the country, with a fatality rate of 0.8—compared with 1.46 for all roads. Yet that same system has the highest speeds in the nation. There is no correlation between speed and getting into accidents. Yes, if an accident does occur for other reasons--failure to yield and inattention being the leading causes--speed plays a role in the severity of that accident. But speed alone is rarely the cause of an accident.

Absolutely correct. It is poor driving that causes problems, such as parking your ass in the left lane....such as exiting to the right from the left lane...such as weaving through traffic.

At current highway speeds, it takes me roughly 2 hours to drive to Tucson (~150 miles), about 3 to Flagstaff (~200 miles), and 6 to Los Angeles. If forced to drive 45 mph those times roughly double. That eats into both work time and turn-around time such that those trips become far more expensive because of lodging, loss of work time, etc. 45 mph is insanely stupid as a highway speed.

It wastes fuel too. The difference between road drag and aerodynamic drag is unbalanced at that speed.

Write a bill that says anyone that voted for Brandon for President has to pay $100/gal.
That means no one will have to pay $100/gal since no one named Brandon was on the ballot.

You guys are so stupid with your childish name calling. When are you going to grow up and be an adult?

Semantics fallacy. You know what he means.

Prove that they're scapegoating inflation while they make record profits?

Companies are pocketing their fattest profits in more than 70 years, even as they complain about inflation

Chevron Rakes in $15.6 Billion in Annual Profits as Oil Prices Climb

I mean, all these companies are making record profits while blaming inflation for price hikes...but that doesn't square.

It's not inflation causing price hikes, it's greed....price hikes resulting in the highest profits ever????? Must be inflation, can't be greed, right?

The shittiest thing about Donald Trump is the fact that you're going to have to continue answering for him, long after he's dead.
I don't answer for Donald Trump. Donald Trump answers for Donald Trump
So get used to seeing his name as much as you see Bush the Dumber's, because you're going to have to defend that shit for the rest of YOUR PATHETIC LIFE, not Trump's.
What's to defend?

* exposure of what you idiots are
* exposure of your influence in the press and in the schools
* better protection of the border
* one of the best economies the U.S. has ever seen
* lower taxes across the board
* successfully negotiated a better NAFTA treaty.
* successfully negotiated payments from NATO nations to support NATO.
* put pride in the American people again.

Sure. I'll defend all that.

It's YOUR life that is pathetic. All you can do is whine and complain.

You're a dipshit moron. The government makes more off of gas than the producers and sellers do.

That they do.

It is taxed when the crude is imported.
It is taxed when the crude is drilled.
It is taxed when the crude is stored.
It is taxed when the crude is moved to the refinery.
It is taxed to refine it.
It is taxed to store the gasoline at the refinery.
It is taxed to move the gasoline to the distribution centers.
It is taxed to store it at the distribution centers.
It is taxed to move it to the gas stations.
Gas stations are taxed to install the tanks.
It is taxed to put the fuel in the tank at the gas station.
It is taxed to pump the fuel into cars and trucks using the gas station.
Every car and truck also pays road taxes, sales taxes, licensing taxes, etc. just to be on the road at all.

You damn well bet that the government makes a hell of a lot more money on gasoline than the oil companies do.

Time is friggin' money. For example, if you were a truck driver and knew you could leave Phoenix loaded for LA at 6 am, arrive at a destination in the LA area, unload and load, then return to Phoenix at 6 pm and then go home is that preferable to you loading and leaving Phoenix at 6 am, arriving in LA in the midafternoon, having to pay to stay the night in a hotel, then return with a load the next day for less pay would you accept having to drive 45 mph?

Would the shipper be willing to take the hit for the longer shipping time and higher costs?

Lower highway speeds raise the cost of anything that is shipped by truck. For people it's the same way. If you decide to drive somewhere for vacation to have the convenience of a car, and the lower highway speed means your only alternative to that is to fly and then rent a car at more expense do you still choose that vacation plan?

There is reason the strikes occurred over the double-nickel limit.
