Many ethnic and racial groups in China are not Asian? Can you name a few? Or even one?
I could be wrong, but I cannot think of a single group in China who is not from Asia. In fact, many of the non-Han groups in China have been in their part of China for longer than the Chinese have been in their part of China. For instance, the Tibetans have been in Tibet for longer than the Chinese have been in Tibet, and are definitely from Asia.
Tuvan and Lli Turks. Uyghurs are probably the best known right now for their being persecuted. They are Caucasian in origin.
Pogroms originally referred to Czarist Russia attacks on Jews, usually using Cossacks. It has since expanded to mean attacks on any ethnic group, but would rarely be applied to the Cossacks as the victims. I am trying to figure out what you are talking about. The USSR did not always treat Cossacks well, is that it?
There were several times Russia (or the Soviet Union) viciously repressed the Cossacks over their wanting greater autonomy. They was also a massive reprisal by the Soviets after WW 2 against the Cossacks as many had fought for or were sympathetic to the Germans during the war.
From the 20's and well into the 30's the Soviets pressed a "De-Cossackization" program meant to strip the Cossacks of their religion and culture. That led in WW 2 to them often siding with the Germans to include formation of a Cossack cavalry division that fought mainly in Yugoslavia.
