Unless they are writing contracts and taking deposits, or hiring helpers and allowing them to use dangerous equipment. Suppose they hire their friend to help and their friend using the mower causes a rock to kick up and it injures a toddler. It would be a horrible life lesson to learn for the young person. Someone else can screw up your life! If the teen was required to get a license, it would involve the teen learning about potential problems and liabilities so they could get insurance and know to prevent as many dangerous situations as possible. It can only be a positive experience.
I mowed lawns as a kid. My brother and I had dozens of people we worked for on weekends and after school. We made little rascal type trailers for our bicycles to carry the mowers we bought at garage sales for each for about $5.
We only had one guy rip us off. According to our greek friend, the guy who ripped us off was a gypsy. LOL
OMG I just remembered a funny gypsy story from back then... There was a really mean gypsy kid who would shoot a BB gun at all the kids walking by his house. It was fucking terrifying. LOL the 70's were crazy

No, your insurance company will not cover your kid's business liability unless you purchase liability insurance for other properties. And the customer's insurance company will come after the business that caused the accident: Your kid's business in this case.
