Should Biden run again?

Let's be real though, when people vote based on economics they aren't thinking to themselves "the current President has X GDP growth and the two predecessors had Y and Z GDP growth." They're thinking about what's happening right now.

And the discussion is about whether Biden will run again. That will likely be determined in 2023 because if he doesn't then you gotta have primaries. I'm not making any predictions here as I have no clue what will happen but if a discussion is already being had about will he run again, and we've yet to hit a recession, that isn't the best sign if one does come. (Edit: based on economic matrix)
No it’s not but the economy isn’t the only metric he will be measured by. The Democrats could lose the key metrics on the midterms, the short term economy and the long term economy but if Biden wins the rest of the key metric, which is unlikely, he would still win.

Why do you want Biden to step aside? I think he is doing a great job.

I think he's doing a good job, too, but I suspect that his stepping aside, at the right moment, would increase the chances of the Dems keeping the White House (in both 2024 and 2028), and though all evidence is that he remains mentally sharp and physically healthy, expecting him to stay that way through 2028 is asking a lot, so it's likely some other Dem would do a better job through that run.

My answer is no.

The divisive lying douchebag probably won't finish his first term. His mental state is becoming more evident with each passing day.

He was the best choice to help return to less hostility after the Trump Administration,

He has been extremely divisive, has shown hostility to the media, Republicans, voters and his own administration. It's hard to take your bullshit seriously.

Trump was far from being divisive or hostile. That belonged to the Democratic Party of Lying Jackasses and their propagandized PHONY media. You just cried because unlike other milk-toast Republicans, he shoved it back into their smarmy dumb faces.

Another reason I would vote for him again.
;)

and he provided a good moderate four year transition,

He's only been in office less than a year and a half dipshit. :palm:

He knows how to beat Trump,

ONLY by cheating and disrupting States voting laws and with billions in dark money flowing in from big tech and overseas. :palm:

but it’s very unlikely Trump will be the Republican nominee.

I would love to see another four years of whining from the left and exposing themselves as the Fascistic America hating moron we now know they are.

I want a Democrat who is young and energetic with new fresh ideas. Someone more like Obama but for the new generation.

Who?

Biden was elected by the “not Trump” constituency, he does not seem to have a natural constituency other than not being Trump.

Biden wasn't elected. He was "selected". ;)

Now it seems Trump is out… so let’s move on to someone who can put it together based on a new ideology of fresh ideas of their own… while using the less bombastic style of Biden.

First you say it will be Trump. Now you say he's out. You're so dumb you can't remember what you typed two sentences ago.

Biden is the most bombastic dumbass we've ever seen in the White House.
:palm:

I’m ready to move to a younger candidate.

Who?

If he wins the nomination, he will if he runs, I’ll support him. I don’t dislike him, just ready for a fresh face.

Of course you will. After all, he's doing an AWESOME job right? I cannot begin to pretend to be shocked.

You know, when you would vote for someone regardless of the devastation they are wreaking on the nation, it is the definition of a hack.
:palm:

Not sure, there are a lot of good choices. I supported the Vice President in the last primary. I like the Governor of Michigan, Pete Buttigieg and Gavin Newsom. I’m sure there are other great choices I haven’t even thought of yet.

Great lineup. None are electable in a national contest so I am good with that.

Mott, the likelihood is there is going to be the mother of all recessions
What, specifically, makes you think that? Bloomberg's latest survey say there's a 70% chance we don't go into recession at all, in the foreseeable future, much less a particularly sharp recession. There's certainly a risk -- a Democrat is president, which means the Fed will have a strong appetite for killing the economy with rate hikes. But Fed-initiated recessions don't tend to be very long. In fact, one of the shortest recessions in history was the Carter recession, caused by the Fed restricting money supply. The kinds of things that cause deeper and longer recessions don't seem to be present today, like lots of debt overhang (the big picture behind the 2007 recession, and the Great Depression). As I mentioned in my top post today, we actually have unusually little private debt right now. Household debt payments as a share of disposable income are lower than they were for the entirety of the 1980-2011 period. Without a bunch of debt to cripple consumer spending, what would make a recession particularly long or deep?

The Republican Party is totally fucked now

At the very least. I feel like I did kind of after Uvalde. So much apathy. They all knew what twump and his evil minions like Rudy and Bannon were planning. No wonder Bannon's ducking testifying. He's about to be arrested for something other that ducking he subpoena.
