Imagine if she somehow had some device with which she could have stopped somebody from attacking kids rather than standing and taking it... Maybe a device that would throw a projectile at great speed toward an attacker who was also throwing projectiles. It's all good though, the "no gun zone" signs should take care of that pesky problem in the future.

Yeah, the research and development costs for such a projectile throwing device would be high, but wouldn't it be worth it if we could just save one life?

So, you think the "no gun zone" signs are effectively eliminating the danger? Do you believe that such laws would have stopped this guy from stealing guns from somebody after killing them, as he did? When he illegally obtained the guns do you think the most effective means of stopping the attack was the teacher getting shot or was it the sign that said he couldn't bring his gun in there?
And lastly, allowing somebody to exercise a right written into the constitution is not "making schools into a war zone". What does that is ensuring for the criminals that they will have target practice like ease in finding targets in the schools.
I thought of that last night as I sat in the theatre with my family watching Thor, and some thuggish (white, if it matters to anyone) guys came in and sat down in the front after surveying the place. I felt the gun resting in the small of my back then settled in to enjoy the movie (good flick, BTW) knowing that I at least had a chance if this were a one in a million situation.
And yes, that's a bit of profiling on my part. Hoodies, baggy pants, piercings, tattoos, ... they had it all and I was suspicious and watchful. Sue me.
