Sending Tanks To The Ukraine.

There is something interesting going on here. Countries bought weapons from other countries, and did not think much of the re-export licenses they may one day need. It was assumed there would be no problem getting a re-export license because everyone would be on the same page.

Poland ran into this problem when trying to re-export German manufactured weapons, but Germany has now agreed. Switzerland will probably never agree to allow Spain to re-export to Ukraine. America is allowing re-export of just about anything to Ukraine.

The upshot, everyone is going to think longer about where they buy their weapons from. What good is buying weapons from Switzerland if they are going to block the use of them. This is going to be a good thing for American companies.

Brazil anong with most of South and Central America is much more looking to China than they are to America for leadership....that is the interesting thing that is going on here.

Brazil already has leadership. Anybody looking to America for leadership must be short of a few kleptomaniac assholes.

Brazil is looking to themselves for leadership. They do not want to be under the thumb of America, but they do not want to be under the thumb of China either. They do not want to take sides on Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Imagine you are India, looking to buy a weapon system. If China attacks, and you need more parts, Russia, Brazil, Switzerland, etc. will stay neutral, and you will not get those parts. The USA will continue to support you. So who will you buy the weapon system from? America may cost more, but you get something that we will actually stand behind...

Assuming we do not elect trump.

Fewer and fewer countries need America. In fact, due to the insane bullying practices of US ' sanctions '- fewer and fewer want America.

India’s arms industry is finally sprawling at a mad pace, thanks to ‘Make in India’

There was a time when socialist tilted India had to depend on other countries for its own safety. For a major part of our existence as independent nations in the modern world order, countries like Russia, USA, France and Israel have provided us arms to fight. Things are changing now. PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ is changing it as our arms industry has sprawled in the last few years.

I heard a claim awhile back that the NATO tanks are too heavy to operate successfully in Ukraine. I dont know if this is true but it must be looked into.

sounds rather silly......is the ground in Ukraine different than the ground in the parts of Europe that NATO was prepared to fight in?......

East Germany(not the USSR) constructed the Berlin Wall to control the brain drain from East to West. The USSR(not China) did create North Korea. China saved North Korea, but not to hold Chinese people in China. With the pandemic, it has been difficult to leave China, but before the pandemic, it was relatively easy to leave China. East Germany was trying to hold in their most educated, while China is fine with their most educated traveling freely.

Go to any physical sciences graduate school in America, and you will see plenty of Chinese who did not need to flee through North Korea to get here. They simply got onto a plane, and flew here.

There is an ongoing problem with North Koreans fleeing into China. This is a real problem for both China and North Korea. Very few North Koreans can get over the southern border, but the Chinese border is actually passable.

The plains of northern Germany actually seamlessly become the plains of Poland, and on to the plains of Ukraine. Neither the weather nor the dirt respect our political borders.

This very much is the war we have spent 70 years preparing for. We have the [in theory] perfect weapons for this. I think your confusion is the fact Germany has better roads than Ukraine. Tanks try to stay off the roads, and besides, those roads would have been destroyed in WWIII anyway.

We keep coming back to that term: "in theory." The fact is this war is allowing us to test 70 years of theories. That is something we did not get in Vietnam or Iraq.

It is a silly claim.

The environment (weather, dirt, whatever) from Netherland, and Belgium, through Northern Germany and Poland, and into Ukraine is all basically the same. The infrastructure in the west is better, but no one was counting on the infrastructure surviving the war. This is as close as possible to the war America has been planning for 75 years.

Will everything work? No. Tanks will get stuck in the mud. There will be problems that 75 years of planning failed to realize. That is why testing plans is so important. Unfortunately/fortunately we are not always given chances to test our plans.

This is the big chance to test 75 years worth of military planning and designing. Even if there is never another war in Europe, it will be good to know how our plans go wrong. It will help us plan for future wars.

Russia already had a friendly regime in Ukraine, prior to 2014 and...................................................................
