There won't be a lame duck House when the 2024 presidential elections are held.

When the election is held and when the election is made inconsequential for failing to produce a candidate with 270 electoral votes
and the House has to choose a president are two different times.
Which House makes the choice, the old one or the newly elected one?
If the current House makes the choice, then a Republican will be seated, and it doesn't even have to be somebody who ran in the election.

2, even if the rural south were partitioned, they still have to sell us their crops. What else are they going to do with them?
People don't seem to realize that if we partitioned and weren't writing one another's laws and tax codes, we actually might get along better than we do now.

We will either partition into multiple nations with more compatible values within them, or we will create a deeper "fourth world' level of misery as we continue our journey down history's toilet drain.

America in its current configuration is a socially regressive disaster put to shame by the modern democracies of the world.

This has a certain ring of truth to it. This country has become two evenly divided groups that hate one another far more than they care about it. Neither party can accomplish anything good for the country without the other doing everything in their power to prevent it.

A perfect example today is Ted Cruz, a conservative who has despised labor unions and voted against them his entire life and after Biden and the senate vote to prevent the rail strike, he votes against preventing the strike and for the union, fist bumps with Bernie Sanders and says, “I just don’t agree with Biden & the Democrats voting to screw the union workers.” HUH! If it were a republican president saying get the fuck back to work you aren't striking now and fucking up our economy just when it is getting better, which way does ANYONE think that asshole would be voting?

We did have a successful country for over 200 years which is pretty good historically, but it does seem to be on it's downhill slope.

The only president selected by the House was John Q. Adams.

There would not be time for the House to select a president. The new House would do so, in my opinion.

They need to sell it. That's their income.
They'll sell it to where they sell it now, even if it's suddenly a different nation.
No reason to not do so.

Not really true, California and Minnesota would feed us for a long time, plus we could import so much food with the money we are saving by not supporting the rural South.

I might have to leave Florida, depending which way South Florida goes. I suspect we would join some sort of Caribbean consortium to form after the US fell apart.
