U.S hasn't had any dealings with Syria since they were declared a terrorist state a long time ago. What 'deals' do you think we had with Syria?

Our refusal to deal with Russia hurts them far more than it hurts us. Except for trump, who owes them countless millions of dollars. Sometimes you just have to starve someone into submission. The reason Russia colluded with trump during the campaign, is because they own him, and Hillary as POTUS would keep sanctions in place

The sanctions not only hurt Russia, they hurt Europe.
Russia is the third largest EU trading partner, and Europe is Russia’s major commercial area.
The reduction in trade helps noone.

You should be focusing on stabilizing the Minsk Agreement (Minks II), now that Trump cannot readily improve Ukrainian/Russian relations.
Both side routinely violate it,and while the Uk (Kyiv) is loathed, they are frightened of changing the status quo
