Science Is in the Details

It's in quotes to help keep you from getting confused. You look at "wind" and a solar "sail" and think of a pirate ship in space. Solar "wind" is nothing at all like wind on earth. I'm trying to help a brother out.

Plasma particles are NOTHING AT ALL like what causes wind on earth. We know what causes solar wind. We can't explain all of it's acceleration because a hidden force below the corona, which we can calculate with physics, is helping it along. The fact that we can calculate it should tell you without a doubt that it's well within the realm of physics. We just can't observe what's happening below the corona yet.

Seriously, saying that solar wind is like earth wind makes you look fucking retarded. Using solar sails to make your point is equally retarded. I'm trying to decide if you need a lesson in what earth wind is, since you clearly don't know that either. My guess is it would be a total waste of time.

LOL... I understand there is a difference between solar wind and earth wind, as I said, earth wind is caused by atmospheric pressure, and solar wind is caused by the sun. They are both still wind, which is why they are called wind, if they were something else, we would call them something else.

We don't know there is a hidden force below the corona, we don't know what accelerates the solar winds. That is why I was correct in saying it seems to defy principles of physics as we understand them, because physics predicts the winds should be much less intense. We've not calculated or discovered any "hidden force" below the corona, that is a speculative opinion without any scientific basis whatsoever... or FAITH IN THE UNKNOWN! Here's something to chew on... We just can't observe and haven't discovered what is happening in "Heaven" right now! Isn't that the exact same thing as what you are saying???

Your sound logic is much too sophisticated for him to comprehend .. so I'd just like to know what makes him think the solar winds are controlled by god.

Perhaps Damo can answer that since he seems such a fan.

Their entire argument is "you can't prove god doesn't exist, therefore he must exist."

Stupid as fuck.

Quick, some believer prove that bigfoot doesn't exist.
There's way more evidence of Bigfoot than there is of God. Unless, like the faithful, you accept anecdotal stories of miracles as evidence, or experience some miracle or something... But it isn't really evidence, just unexplained.

I would however contend that the argument isn't that God must exist, just that God could exist, however personally improbable you or I may find it to be. IMO, over time, if we survive the next comet that tries to smash into Earth, we'll (humans collectively) have that kind of power to create worlds, make new life, etc. It's possible what people call God is something that is just not understood yet and could some day be tested and accounted for.

no, deception....none of the above are true, where did you find it?.....
Mithra wasn't born of a virgin or in a cave....he is said to have sprung forth as an adult from solid rock
http://www.pantheon.org/articles/m/mithra.html

he didn't have twelve disciples and he wasn't called the Messiah...

he didn't have a Last Supper, he didn't give his life to atone for sin and he wasn't resurrected, he didn't even die....

he had a battle with the sun, he killed a bull (who's blood leaked out and formed all the plants of the earth) and then he went to join the other deities in heaven....

your source is a crock of shit....

apparently I know both the Bible and ancient mythology better than you do....
:D

by the way, blackascoal, if you try to pass off any of that other "Christianity is a copy" bullshit from another atheistRus website, I'm going to make you look like a total idiot....most of it originates from a website called the Institute for Religious Tolerance, which is a fancy name for the basement of a guy named Bruce with a bachelor's degree in engineering who considers himself an expert on theology, but insists that he will never study it because it might interfere with his pure understanding of it......atheists love to quote him....

what are you talking about....the entire universe would be the impact of his handiwork....everything that has ever been measured or observed about the universe IS his handiwork......but you can't use science to study HIM, only the physical universe....

Right. Just becuase the universe exists that means god made it. With no hard evidence whatsoever.

Please post where anyone here has made that statement, or apologize for lying and misrepresenting what has been said. Thanks!

While you are at it, maybe you want to take a stab at the "scientific" explanation for how subatomic matter exploded into the known universe full of life? Since you obviously don't believe it was the work of a God, you must have some plausible explanation, and I would love to hear it. Please, elaborate on this topic for us? Oh, and include your "hard evidence" please.

I think this pretty much covers it Dixie.

They're not anything like each other. Solar "wind" isn't really wind, schmuck.

No, it's not even close to the same thing. Why do you religious types always attempt to bring atheists down to your level of argumentation? It's like you know you're not arguing on the same intellectual level. No, it's not the same thing because physics doesn't predict a heaven. We can crunch the numbers and know through physical principles that there has to be another force acting on the plasma ejections from the sun, and we know exactly how strong that force needs to be, and where it needs to come from to get the effect we observe. There's no math on this earth that predicts or necessitates or even hints at the existence of heaven. Evidence based belief and belief in retarded myths are two entirely different things. I think you know that deep down. But you're not honest enough to admit it.

No, it's not like wind on earth, I thought we had established that four pages ago. Why must you keep trying to claim I've said things I never said? I clearly defined the difference between the two winds, but the fact remains, they are both winds.

Well, yeah, it's pretty much the same thing. I have shown you where science has no explanation for the acceleration of the solar winds, thermal expansion was originally thought to be the accelerator, but that theory has been shot to hell by the numbers, it's moving too fast and with too much velocity to be caused by coronal ejection. You keep saying "we know there has to be another force" and I haven't said there isn't another force! Obviously there does have to be another force, but it's one we can't explain. You want to believe (i.e.; have faith in) the possibility it is some mechanism below the corona that we can't see. Religious people believe (i.e.; have faith in) a force they can't see... so how is that different? Seems to be the same exact thing to me! You claim we know exactly how strong that force needs to be and where it needs to come from, but religious people know exactly how they must live and act to get into heaven. It still hasn't explained a thing.

I never said math predicts heaven or anything close... math also can't predict what causes the acceleration in the solar winds, math fails to do that, we don't understand why. We can crunch the numbers and they don't add up, something else is at play, we both agree on that, but we simply don't know what. You want to "have faith" in something you believe in, but how is that any different than people who have religious faith in something they believe in?

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the prosecution rests.

LOL... Whatever dickhead. The solar winds propel particles of plasma through space at supersonic speeds. The plasma doesn't propel itself, some force moves it through space, and it is called solar wind. It's not EXACTLY the same as Earth wind, and I never said that it was. In fact, I articulated the differences numerous times, but the behavioral characteristics are the same, it is an invisible force moving through space, just as wind moves on Earth.

Grind, shut the fuck up, this retard hasn't EVER owned a damn thing! He probably doesn't even own the underwear he tracks up with his shit. This whole "solar wind" thing has been going on for two pages because he can't admit he was totally wrong and I owned him. The more he attempts to save face, the more he gets faced with his own stupidity. You ain't much different.

But dixie. It's moronic to say any mystery "must be god". That's fucked up and stupid.

I've not said any mystery "must be god" and you fucktards can repeat that all you like if it makes you feel better. All I have said is the universe is full of the unexplained, and things that seem to apparently defy what we do understand of physics and science. You can't very well claim that science explains things it simply doesn't explain, hasn't explained, and can't rationally explain. I've not said that "God" explains it, but you can't say that "God" doesn't explain it. Any possibility exists if there is no explanation. Can you comprehend that? Is that too far above your pinheads to grasp? Probably so!!

I really don't know what your comprehended perception of "God" is... do you believe it is a person-like entity with a beard and deep authoritative voice, who lives on a cloud, wears a white robe and sits on a gold throne with angels flying around? I can assure you, this is a man-made perception of God, and is most likely nowhere near accurate. Do you believe God is this raging Jerry Falwell type entity, who preaches and commands his followers to obey his orders or burn in hell? Again, this is a man-made concept, and not what I believe in at all. Through all of the assorted threads on the board today, started by pinheads to refute what they claim not to believe in, I keep hearing these insane perceptions of what you think God is like, and I don't think God is like anything articulated here. I think you've all pretty much missed the mark on your perceptions of what God is, what God "wants" or what God demands. Most of you just don't have a fucking clue, you are simply attacking something you don't comprehend or understand. It's somewhat amusing to read, but it's really quite sad and unfortunate. To think you actually believe in nothing, you think life and the universe is completely without purpose and reason, as someone said earlier, it is pure Nihilism. I don't know how old you are, but I really feel sorry for someone who has to go through an entire lifetime with a nihilist viewpoint, that has to be extremely depressing.

that isn't even remotely close to what I said....in fact, if you pay attention, it's exactly the opposite....I said "but you can't use science to study HIM, only the physical universe"......obviously, if you can't use science to study God you can't use it to "prove" him.....

But god also doesn't explain what science can't explain. Stop being a moronic cunt. This has nothing to do with nihilism. Nihilism is a holy war.
