Russian casualties now exceed 200k

Regular trained soldiers.

They also have over 200,000 conscripts and over 7 million men of age if they want to draft them.

Ukraine already has everyone fighting and they are not really getting replacements for them.

A conservative estimate is that they have about 150,000 soldiers left

If Putin wanted a full war time mobilization he would have done it by now. This war is a year and a half old.

Putin is treading a thin line. He promised Russians this would be a painless "special operation", not an actual war, that Russians would be treated as liberators, and his state media keeps sugar coating how well the special operation is going.

Putin has been trying to spare the affluent classes of Moscow and Saint Petersburg any pain, by putting the burden of fighting on poor rural Russians, mercenaries, and ethnic minorities from the autonomous republics.

If Putin ordered a full mobilization of seven million Russians tomorrow, it would call into question his ability and credibility to lead, and possibly lead to social unrest.

Nobody wants to risk a nuclear war with Russia
And Russia does not want to risk a conventional or nuclear war with NATO or the US. If Russia started a nuclear war they would cease to exist within minutes and they know it. Putin isn't that crazy and neither are his Generals.

Exactly. The people can take him out of power. They are growing restless. When Russian mothers start mourning for their sons Putin will get the blame.

Exactly which is why he is taking his time.

He can outlast Ukraine unless Ukraine gets some serious military intervention from a Major nation and that doesn’t seem likely.

The Russians (not Putin) are applying pain until the Ukrainians do as they must (neutrality), they dont want to take lands other than what is traditionally Russian, which they plan to finish doing starting in a few weeks as the ground hardens.

Ukraine is about to get air superiority. Russia will be in a world of hurt. They just got cruise missiles from the UK.

Well we don’t know his plans exactly.

A big theory is that he is trying to reform the Soviet Union and Ukraine is the biggest obstacle to that

BullShit....you obviously consume too much pro Western propaganda, have no idea what is going on.
Nyet, comrade #10. Most people don’t live at the bottom of a bottle of Stoly…or whatever is cheap in Mother Russia.

We do know what the Russians are doing and why, they have been very clear and honest over many years. The claim that Russia wants to take over Eastern Europe is a bold Western lie. You should try to not be so gullible.

It is going to take another decade to fully integrate the Russian economy and military with the Chinese, they have no interest in unnecessary wars, and they have no ability to rebuild the Soviet Union by force, which is obvious.

Dont be Dumb.

That is why I called it a theory
