Maybe in law, but not in spirit. This is going to be a new cold war. Putin's first goal was to sow discord in the US, which he did by getting Trump elected. And now that he succeeded in dividing America against itself, he's going to assert Soviet supremacy in western Europe. You'll know I'm right when China openly sides with Russia.

Any student of Russia's political hierarchy knows Putin's strength and resolve- and the US services have plenty of those.
They/we knew full well that he would react to NATO pressure by creating a buffer state out of Ukraine. For my part I'd hoped that he would do it politically but NATO's weapons-delivery program has tipped diplomacy in favor of war. Surely- that was calculated too- and the calculations have been made by idiots.
