Ronald Reagan's standard: "Are you better off ... ?" In 2017? In 2021?

"a fine idea, but doomed to failure because of the beast known as the government. the only way to cut government spending is forcing the government to have less to spend." SY
That might work, if government was REQUIRED to balance the budget each year.

But time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time we cut taxes, and the deficit skyrockets.

You get a BBA ratified, and I'll march at the head of your parade.

Until then, cut spending further first! Then only cut taxes to a level that leaves surpluses, so we can pay off this astronomical federal debt.
"There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt." John Adams
There's no mistaking it. Debt at this level is legalized slavery.

first and primary example would be my health insurance costs, DIRECTLY RELATED TO OBAMACARE, my premiums doubled, my co-pays doubled, my pharma costs doubled, and my deductibles doubled.

Didn't you once say you didn't have health insurance? And that your wife has some serious health problems?

I would LOVE to see Trump try and repeal Obamacare, so everybody with pre-existing conditions (like your wife) would suddenly be responsible for all their expensive treatments.

Define expenses. My expenses haven't doubled.
neither have mine -but they are going up significantly. Have you food shopped? My insurance creeps up,my HOA dues
I have to use cabel, and they go up. Termite control ( OK that's florida)..and they jump up.

I finally cancelled my home paper delivery - it was a luxury ( creature comfort) -but I am too stretched to keep it.

while we still have a majority establishment political machine, do you believe ANY of that is possible?

i was about to embark on asking you what fantasy world you live in, but then i saw it's watermark.

I live in the fantasy world where we measure inflation objectively using things like price indexes, rather than the one where we simply always imagine that inflation is sky high based on the mandates of our libertarian ideology and a few cherry picked examples.

no

And that your wife has some serious health problems?
yes

so you are ok with millions of struggling americans having to pay twice what they used to so that others can have free or inexpensive health care?

i guess that's the bullshit reasoning you can use when your mother stocks your snacks in the fridge.,

I must be missing something then. According to this chart inflation hasn't varied much over the last few years.

"Possible" (your word): yes.

Likely? No.

We've been running this enterprise for centuries (since 1776). And here it is the 3rd Millennium, and our federal debt continues to grow.

BUT !!

Candidate Trump campaigned on shaking up the establishment. So there seems generally to be a taste for change.
"... everyone's for big government. The American People say we hate big government, but we like our social security and medicare. That's 38% of government right there. The biggest components of government are the most popular components of government."
"What's pernicious about deficits for conservatives is this. It makes big government cheap. What we're doing, we're turning to the country, the "conservative" administration turns to the country and says: We're going to give you a dollar's worth of government, we're going to charge you seventy five cents for it. And we're going to let your kids pay the other quarter." George Will Nov 30, 2003

Right.
When YOU get a car loan, you get benefit of the car now, and YOU pay the loan off later, over a period of a few years. THE ONE THAT BENEFITS PAYS THE PRICE (interest).

When the U.S. federal government goes into astronomical debt, the people that benefit die; leaving the grandkids stuck with the tab. If the grandkids want to send men to Mars, let them.
It's not our job to stage a manned Mars mission, and stick the grandkids with the bill.

its how we all build wealth huh

its the same for a country

except individuals die so they aim to pay it off before they sign off huh

a country doesn't plan to die

some new debt is being used at differing times and is being paid down huh

no debt means your planning the end
