This very thread shows the division.
Here's the bottom line, the Republican base is shrinking, plain and simple ,I agree. Every year, whote people move towards being the minority. As more & more minorities get into the voting pool, they go democratic. Thats a problem for Republicans. The GOP needs to develop and reach out to minorities, and get on board with their issues,no doubt. The same thing goes for the youth vote, which is clearly what won Obama the election. There are some great minority and young GOP people...
Marco Rubio- Popular and young, and alot more in touch with issues facing latino voters.
Condie Rice- Sure, she's a Bush party republican, but she is a strong successful woman, with great foreign policy experience,is towards the center on issues such as abortion, etc
Bobby Jindal- A popular and young Governor with experience
Mia Love -She narrowly lost her congress bid(less than 1%), she's a conservative and popular young black woman. She WILL be back
The GOP had better figure out a way to get these people involved, and look openly at moving towards middle America. Moving towards the middle will certainly cost them ultra conservative support, but what they lose, may be made up by what they gain. I suspect, Rubio will be pushed to be involved on the next ticket. I like him, he's popular, likeable, will help with latino voters, and will help deliver Florida.
For those that said people voted against the "rape" & "abortion" politicians, I simply DONT believe that. The issues of rape and abortion were far down any list if you look at the exit poll data. Economy was number one...plain and simple. Polling suggested that most people thought the country was going in the wrong direction. People thought that Romney could handle the economy better than Obama. With ALL OF THAT, Obama still won, for one simple reason......minority & youth vote,PERIOD! The monority vote was LOCKED IN for Obama, no matter what other issues were on the table, no matter what the economy was like, they were going to vote Obama no matter what,so if you are being honest, you have to admit that. Again, 50% of this country voted against Obama, and wanted change. Take the extra minority & youth vote out, and Romney wins easily.
So, again, the GOP better figure out how to tap into that minority/youth market, and be more open to issues facing those two groups. If not, they can expect more of the same in elections to come. I still believe that we are now set adrift on a fiscal sea. Obama will tav and spend us into oblivion. Obamacare will crush our country, and as a result, people will move sharply back to conservative fiscal values,I just hope its not too late
