If I were a Republican Id be embarrased by Perry's popularity also.
If I were a Democrat, I would be embarrassed by Obama's popularity.

You are the one that said moderates wouldn't vote for Romney because of RomneyCare, yet Obama care is WORSE. So why would they vote for Obama over Romney with regards to this issue? Moderates do NOT like this new health care bill. The surveys show people in general favor health care reform, but they do not like Obama.
Just pointing out that national health care policy isn't going to sway anybody one way or the other, since they are both so complicit in it's creation.
My definition of moderates is likely different than yours, righties hate RomneyCare, lefties think it is progress in the right direction.
ROFLMAO... yeah, that is why Obama is polling SO well with Independents and moderates right now. Obama is WAY to the left of center in this country. While he is not as far left as the far left would like, he is nowhere near the center.
Romney is a successful businessman and not a right wing nutter that moderates hate. While he is certainly to the right, he is much closer to center than Obama.
Polls and statistics don't mean shit to me. Too easy to manipulate.
Obama is so frigging central that many on the right call him BushIII.
You call call him whatever you want, but it all comes down to individual perception.
No registerd democrat on the planet is going to vote against Obama, period.
Independents will likely be swayed by state of the economy at that time.
Rednecks will vote for whatever pig fucker the GOP puts up as long as he's white.
Govt health care is not "progressive". Making everyone equally miserable is not my idea of progress.
If he can escape the primary, the Tea Party members would likely be less motivated to vote, but those that did would choose Romney over Obama. Romney would also draw from moderate/disenfranchised Dem voters and he would likely do well with Independents vs. Obama (if the economy remains bad.... which given ineptitude of leadership in DC in both parties, plays to Romney's favor)
I cannot imagine Tea Party members sitting out an election, for any reason.....well, maybe if the Republicans nominated Obama as well as the Democrats......even then I would anticipate a grassroots write in campaign......
You are very wrong about the optimism thing, Super.
How so?
Any democrat that doesn't vote for Obama isn't a real democrat, so why would they be registered as a democrat?
careful.... that sounds a LOT like Ditzie's 'A real Christian wouldn't believe PARTS of the bible' comment.
Just because a person registers Democrat and predominantly votes Democrat doesn't mean they should ALWAYS vote Dem. There are moderates in both parties that will vote across party lines as they vote for what THEY perceive as the best candidate for the particular job.
If you are a Dem who is tired of Obama and don't believe he is capable of doing his job and thus does not deserve another term.... would you vote Obama just because of the little letter after his name? Those are called lemmings. Both parties have them, but they do not decide elections.
Put up a candidate and many will cross over. So far you have no one close to being a better bet than Obama.
Furthermore, many democrats are happy with Obama, we just wish he had done more, such as sticking firm for a single payer, punishing the Wall Street misbehavers, and prosecuting the BushII administration for war crimes and treason.
