Rick Perry's View on Marriage

No. I don't subscribe to that line of reasoning. Christ didn't mention homosexuality...so if it wasn't a big deal to him...it's not to me.

He didn't mention child molestation either. Do you suppose child molesters will go to heaven?

By the way, Solitary thinks that it's "fine" that gays are going to hell.

All things considered, 'Hell' would probably be a better option than spending an eternity in the company of the righteous Christians who frequent message boards.

Selective quoting again?

The discussion was about gay marriage laws.

What I actually said was: "Thats fine, but has nothing to do with the laws of this nation.". The "Thats fine" part was not saying it was fine that anyone burns in hell (much as you may get giddy at the thought of it), but at your off topic post.

So you're pointing out something doesn't exist in something which doesn't exist?

Thanks for that.

(and even if it did they'd definitely have Budweiser on tap)

Just because you don't believe it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You'll find out though. :)

Maybe I am misunderstanding him but are these views contradictory?

Perry backs a constitutional limit on marriage
Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he supports a constitutional amendment limiting marriage to a man and a woman, though just last week he said New York's gay marriage law is fine with him.

In an interview Saturday with The Associated Press, Perry said he supports federal limits on who can marry but also supports the right of states to decide whether gay couples can wed.

Perry says the theory of evolution has holes in it and that a creator, not an accident, is responsible for life.

Some conservatives are urging Perry to run for the Republican nomination for president. The Texas governor tells the AP he'll decide by Labor Day whether to make a bid — and that his campaign would be about jobs, not gay marriage or evolution.

Yes. His views on gay marriage are contradictory. It's not possible to have both a constitutional ammendment "limiting" gay marriage to a man and a woman and to have State control of marriage. It doesn't really matter. This comment and his comments on evolution were meant as SOP's to his social conservative base. The fact that one statement is contradictory and the other ignorant as hell is completely irrelevent from a political stand point.

Hopefully his campaign would be a short one.

I wouldn't say that. With Perry in, there's a horse race. With out Perry it's going to be a Romney coronation due to a completely weak field of candidates. Perry's not a weak candidate and I'd rather see it be a horse race.
