Will the Republican convention nominate Trump on the first round, or will it be a contested convention?

Trump or Contested?

If its contested who will end up with the nomination?

no matter what happens the republican party will never be the same.

he wealthy have lost control of their property.

the racists cant use it anymore for power

the wealthy wont be paying it much money anymore

gulp the tar dinos

I think there is finally a separation between the rich and the middle class of the Republican party. The middle class are finally realizing they have been used all of these years, but they still reject the liberalism of the Democrats.

I am still struggling to grasp what it is about the Trump supporters that they have in common, what common ideology holds them together if it were not for Trump? Do they return to the Republican party or form their own group?

If I had to predict, I would say that Trump is simply going to win the nomination outright, then a third party candidate will emerge who will take about 10% of Trumps support and ensure an HRC victory.

Racism

no one the Rs run can win

by the time these assholes regroup they will have demographics beating their heads in

this country is about to soar

Difficult to say. The party leadership understands letting the population choose is a seismic shift and not to their personal benefit. Donors have been screaming at them for months about that.
But cancelling out the will of the people holds grave danger as well.
So do they cut off their left hand or the right ?
Either way things will change.
Ignoring the people came with a price and the Canary in the coal mine (Eric Cantor) seems to have taught them nothing.
So while I can take only a wild guess (educated is just not possible) I'll hope for the right thing. They are, after all, supposed to represent citizen interest and citizens are clearly speaking.
No good answers here. And make no mistake, this decision impacts the donkeys every bit as much. They barely managed to stiff Sanders but citizens are demanding better. Status quo is gone, only question is where things go from here.

I would argue that Sanders does not represent as much of a divergence from traditional Democratic principals than Trump represent a divergence from traditional Republican principals. You did not see Sanders attacking former Democratic presidents on their most crucial decisions, and HRC is going to soundly defeat him for the nomination. Sanders appealed to some of the historically steadfast Democratic blocks of voters such as labor.

In a general election clearly the ignoring the people would be criminal, but what is a party to do when a plurality its followers abandon the core principals and the result is a seismic shift in the ideals of a new leader? Its seems to me the people have abandoned the party, not the other way around.

So who owns the Republican brand, its establishment or its voters?

Its like a divorce, who gets to keep the name Republican, and who has to go rent an apartment and try to start a new life?

Will America have three parties?

The Republicans
The Neo-Republicans
and..
The Democrats

Citizens have been screaming that colluding with the opposition was not ok. They (we in this case as he was my district) punted a Eric Cantor to demonstrate this. Trump has demonstrated that he hears. It's finally back to pocketbook and there us no more road to kick the can down. The message is simple clear and conservative: fix the spending problem, we know how, they do not (even though JFK showed them).

3rd party ? Don't think so. At least not for long. Citizens will regain ownership. Same goes for the donkeys.

You seem confident a third party would only take votes from Trump. Hillary is a weak candidate on several fronts, even many democrats don't like her and would like to have someone else to vote for. If Bernie's supporters stay home before voting for Hillary that's going to be significant; if she polls well, today, with blacks and minorities and that doesn't mean they're actually going to cast a ballot on Election Day.

She's in for a fight and she knows it, if even the talking heads don't realize it or admit it.

Yup. The old rules no longer apply as everyone is fed up.

So, no compromise with the opposition results in nothing getting done. What then?

I agree that she is in for a fight. The establishment is promoting the idea that it will be easy for her, because they want something done about Trump... but you are correct, its not an easy win for her.

"Nothing getting done" would actually be a positive. Congress equates that expression to spending more.

Things, productive things, can be accomplished through effective leadership which starts with communication. Trump has demonstrated he can do that. Bubba was the last dem to demonstrate it. When the public is in line with leadership things happen.

Good point, Trump has said he would make deals with the Democrats and get things done instead of simply being obstructionist.
