The assumption there is that religion is unreasonable.

Religion couldn't be annihilated by force in Soviet Russia, China, Cambodia, I doubt if scientific equations can do it. From the earliest cave paintings in France and Spain it's obvious homo sapiens are hard wired to believe in an abstract ultimate reality beyond matter and energy.

I used to be an atheist myself 30 years ago, until it slowly dawned on me that atheism requires just as many miracles as religion does.

I also realized that it is perfectly reasonable to infer that there is more to reality than just matter and energy; that a mathematically rational and lawfully organized universe requires a law-giver; that there is more to love, free will, and justice than just chemical reactions between protons and electrons.

I agree. Faith just means that you believe something on bad evidence. Life experiences influence basically everything we believe, in every part of our life. If you happen to be born in India, your life experiences would be suchthatt you would believe in Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were the true gods of everything. If you happe.n to be born in Iran, you would believe Allah is the one true God. You happen to be born in a place, and likely to a family, that's made your life experiences such that you believe in the Christian God.
Those events are all just chance and do not change the reality of whether or not those gods exist.

Yes, I'm sure all religious people, regardless of which god(s) you believe exists, think the same way.

The “God” reference was intentional. Christianity, Catholicism recognize only one God.

No, I don’t believe something on bad evidence. I believe something on evidence. It’s my decision as to whether it’s good or bad evidence.

Of course I recognize that Atheism is based on…nothing.

This is true. Right now though IMO the question isn't that there's no proof of a sky daddy or mommy, but how religion in America is adversely affecting the country's politics. The theocrats want to believe that this is a good thing, and that young ppl are flocking to churches again. They are not.

But you should be referring to all gods that man has ever believed in. It's just by chance that you believe in the Christian God and are atheist when it comes to all other gods that man has believed in throughout time, including today. You believe, buy pure chance of where you happen to be born, that your God exists, is the one true God and all other gods are fairy tales. Had you been born in India, you believe the Christian God was a fairy tale. It's all just chance.

There's no more evidence for your God than there is for the thousands of other ones that man has believed it. That evidence is stories passed through spoken word and stories passed through writing. The Bible is no more evidence for the Christian God than the Iliad and the Odyssey are evidence for The existence of Athena and Poseidon.

Yep. Trump was pro-choice most of his life, until he decided (since the Democrats didn't want him) to run on the (R) ticket. He's not Christian, he's not pro-life, he's not pro-America. His one and only guiding principle is what is good for Trump. But he's willing to pretend to be those other things if it benefits Trump.
