The assumption there is that religion is unreasonable.Not by force. By reason.
Religion couldn't be annihilated by force in Soviet Russia, China, Cambodia, I doubt if scientific equations can do it. From the earliest cave paintings in France and Spain it's obvious homo sapiens are hard wired to believe in an abstract ultimate reality beyond matter and energy.
I used to be an atheist myself 30 years ago, until it slowly dawned on me that atheism requires just as many miracles as religion does.
I also realized that it is perfectly reasonable to infer that there is more to reality than just matter and energy; that a mathematically rational and lawfully organized universe requires a law-giver; that there is more to love, free will, and justice than just chemical reactions between protons and electrons.
