Remember when?

rigggggghhhht...and since I have no proof of this, I will go with the picture of you hunched over the keyboard, spittle flying in all directions!

Just call me Sugar! :loveu:

Yes, it is best you not imagine my irresistible sexiness, it might drive you even more nuts than you already are, and I would hate to know I caused that. So please, imagine me as a lunatic with spittle flying... I can make that sacrifice for you. :loveu:

Oh... and for the last time, I am not going to call you! I couldn't do that to you! You couldn't handle it!

(Imagine the OldSpice Guy)

Well, your body might be banging, but your personality is a turn off!
:loveu:
Aren't you about 50 years older than this guy? and white?:loveu:

He and I have had the discussion regarding foreign energy dependency many times over the past few years. He has supported the domestic drilling in most of those cases. The only time he wavered was as he just mentioned.... during the gulf oil spill he jumped ship and said no to more drilling in response to the catastrophe. While it was an over-reaction, it was understandable to a degree.

You and ditzie running around pretending his position is something other than what it has been is ridiculous. While most Dems on this board are as you suggest, Oncelor and Toppy are the exceptions to the rule.
Then he must obviously tell you one thing and the rest of us something else...his mocking of Sarah Palin's "drill, baby drill" chant still stands out in my mind.

I did mock that - that's not the way to win over indies & Democrats; it just isn't. Many see domestic drilling as a necessary evil - not something desirable, but an option we have to go with for our energy needs now.

That's how I see it, and that's why I want to see quicker development of alternatives. Oil is a finite source, and a source that pollutes relentlessly. And it will not last 1,000 years, as you have stated....

Precisely. I have found Lorax to be very reasonable, even when we have to agree to disagree. We have had the same discussion on energy several times and he is far from the far left's position.

The chanting and using that as a line is fucking moronic. It is a simpleton's approach to the issue. It is a politician trying to create a tag line.

Mocking her for that does not equate to being against drilling.

You're lying to yourself then.

Why do you think?

A lot of leaning's views are pretty conservative. He's hardly what I would call a leftie.

It's interesting how you & bravo are about this. You're both such koolaid drinkers for the right, you can't comprehend someone with more independent views...

Nice attempt to misrepresent my post and claim that I was attacking the person.

My point is that there is no such thing as conservatism in the modern Democrat Party. I used to consider myself a conservative Democrat until the Clinton years. It probably happened long before then but that's when I became fully aware of the true socialist sewer that the Democrat party had become.

Democrats are always touting JFK for his conservative economic philosophy yet they don't follow it.

From a fiscally conservative viewpoint.... NEITHER party can claim any sort of conservatism.

Overall, you are wrong in that many Democrats are relatively conservative in many of their views. It depends on the topic being discussed. Just as many in the Rep party have more liberal tendencies on certain topics, but conservative on others. They are called moderates because of this.

AGAIN, a poster attempts to misrepresent my post and claim that I am attacking individuals. My attack is on the Democrat Party, which is controlled and led by liberals, and has long abandoned any precepts of conservatism.

There are many individual Democrats who believe in fiscal conservatism. These people are either unaware of the direction of their Party, or as I stated earlier, they are lying to themselves.

You are correct that the GOP cannot claim to represent Conservatives. They spent like drunken sailors during the first two years of GW Bush, when they had the ability to lead. Yet the GOP does have some true conservatives within its leadership ranks, while the Democrat Party has very few, if any.

I have been registered as a Republican and as a Democrat, but then I saw the light.

They say, if you are young and not liberal, you have no heart. If you are old and not conservative, you have no brain. So, if you were conservative when you were younger, and now you are liberal, you must not have a heart OR a brain! :D

Well, "they" say a lot of things, but it doesn't necessarily make than true.
