An excellent point. What constitutes a wave? Total seats? Percentage?
The House has 435 seats, all are up for election. The Republicans need a net gain of 5 to take the House. The odds favor them doing so. A win by one means the Republicans control the House and set all agendas.
That said, having such a weak majority would effectively do nothing over the next two years....something that is certain to piss off most Americans who are suffering while the two major parties play the Blame Game and line their pockets with Taxpayer dollars.

Democrats control the House with 220 seats, whereas Republicans have 212. There are currently three vacancies....
...All 435 House seats are up for election. The Cook political Report rates 33 races as toss-ups – 23 of which are currently held by Democrats and 10 by Republicans.
A shift of only five seats would transfer control of the chamber to Republicans.
