I didn't personalize that remark because I understood the point you were making, even if it was hyperbolic.
It isn't easy, but sometimes I call out the veterans I consider blowhards. The ones who make gratuitous statements about their military service when it has no direct bearing in the conversation. My father's generation was more humble.
And, in my experience, a lot of veterans are liars who, at best, have embellished and embroidered their real service.

Your last two statements are pretty much the way I see it as well. We have several holidays/year to celebrate those who served and remember those who didn't make it home. Plus parades, hundreds of congresscritters who pay at least lip service to our vets, charities to help them out, etc. so it's not like we send 'em off and that's it. So it's hard to see why some feel so needy and compelled to flaunt it for some sort of points or something. There is one here who was also over on the Amazon forum who actually demanded to be thanked for his service. Phantasmal will recall that incident.

There's no way to know if it is "dead" or not. That being said, Toxic insists that Goodreads deleted the group due to her early and often reporting efforts. Clearly it still exists.

Calling some of you fucking hypocrites when you know damn well you're a fucking hypocrite isn't offensive. Other than that, whatcha got? Put up or shut up.
