Record beef prices raise Memorial Day cookout costs

Yum! We don’t eat a lot of red meat these days, although delicious, my cholesterol level, chronically bad, doesn’t allow for it. My father lived to be 95 and his cholesterol was always high.
There is research that confirms that cholesterol alone does not cause clogged arteries, there are other factor.s
Statins are a racket. I think we should prosecute the Pharmaceutical companies under the R.I.C.O. statutes.

Beef prices set records last month at U.S. grocery stores, and economists expect they will climb further as demand increases during the summer grilling season that traditionally begins with cookouts on Memorial Day on Monday.

Higher prices hit consumers who are increasingly nervous about the economic impact of President Donald Trump's trade policy and after Washington halted cattle imports from Mexico over a pest called New World screwworm, which could hike up beef prices further by tightening the cattle supply.

One consumer feeling the pinch is DeAndrea Chavis, an artificial intelligence analyst in Raleigh, North Carolina, who buys ground beef nearly every week to prep tacos and other dishes for lunch but lately is making smaller portions because of rising prices.

It's going to get worse without immigration reform. Not just the tariff bullshit, but the workers to milk the cows, harvest the crops and work the cattle. MAGA morons won't understand this until it hits their kitchen table....then they'll listen to their Orange Jesus and blame the Democrats. LOL

For someone who claims to not eat much meat you spent a whole lot of time on this thread bragging about your meat purchasing skills at the Shop Rite using expired coupons
Actually, I spent a good amount of time kicking your ass. The adults in the thread have already exchanged anecdotes.

The only reason I continue to destroy you, is to bump the thread to keep it at the top of the page.

Maybe adults will join the discussion.

Now...the board has noticed that you refused to take my bet about leaving the board. Why don't you do something of substance if you are so sure of yourself?

Step up and be a man.

Same. Although for those of us with fairly high cholesterol it has little to do with diet. It can certainly go higher if we eat eggs/red meat, though. My gall bladder has been a problem since I was young. After years of suffering, I finally made the correlation between fatty beef and my attacks.

The body tries to speak to you, if you listen. I stopped eating beef quite by accident, and felt much better.

Now I do it in moderation, especially when the kids come over and demand my grilled rib eyes.

There is nothing like the smell of meat cooking on a grill.

But, clearly there is some social status afforded you here on JPP by believing you are wealthier than others? Why else would you come here bragging about buying cut rate beef at the Shop Rite and back it up with expired coupons?
Dude. You are clearly a moron. Do you even know what thread you are in?

Amén!

Right now,
you can look at any unfortunate and/or harmful situation,
blame the pigfucking orangutan and his trumpanzee sycophants,
and have a 96.732 % chance of being right.

I was very careful and precise with the calculations.

Is your body telling you that you are an idiot?

Gallbladder huh?

Forty, fat and female

Yo mon! What's your problem bru?
If they can't afford Porterhouse there is always chopped meat, hot dogs, sausages.
No girls need 30 dolls, amirite? Limit them to 3. Walmart shouldn't pass the costs of tariffs to their customers, amirite? They, and their investors, should just suck it up and eat the cost. /sarcasm

And a lot of them are NAGAS themselves.
And it is only going to get worse before it gets better.
Agreed. The history of humanity seems to be two steps foward and one step back. We, the People, are clearly in a one-step-back phase.

While I think things will start moving forward again within 5 years, it could take a few decades to fix the damage done by Trump and his MAGAts.

I do not buy steak at Krogers ... While there are sales...It is not the best quality... But
That's just my personal taste and choice.... Actually I don't buy any meat at Krogers.... I buy local.. OSU is my favorite...
My friend, who supplies meat to the restaurants as well as stores, told me that Sams Club and Restaurants get first (and best) deliveries. He had a contract with Sams, but said that Costco had the same deal with their suppliers.

So, big box is the way to go if you aren't just buying a full cow or a half cow and getting it cut how you want it.
