REALLY? ANOTHER racist incident involving an RNC attendee.

The original post from the (supposedly) Republican website, therefore safe for the Dix to visit without "enriching liberal propaganda sites"....

Prior to National Republican Convention we visited Disney for three days. During our time at Epcot we visited the different countries. It was neat seeing each country and the employees were from that individual country. Then we visited America . . . one would think you would find American employees. We were offended to find a person from Mexico working in America. Mark spoke up and told them he was highly offended after visiting the other countries and seeing employees from that country and then come to America and find a Mexican. He was very civil but his point was well made.

So you believe that no "Mexican" has ever been, or will be, born in this country and therefore an AMERICAN.

So you believe a "Mexican" born in this country isn't representative of someone from the USA.

Understood.

Hee hee hee...sometimes it's just too easy!

No... I believe that a "Mexican" is not a suitable representative of a display featuring the USA, and would be much more suitable as a representative of a display featuring Mexico. Just like, if I had a Mexican restaurant, I would probably not hire Korean waiters and waitresses, it's not racism, it's a matter of ambiance and atmosphere. The display was supposed to represent the USA, so how does a Mexican (i.e.; person from Mexico) do that? Is it racist to point out this detail? I don't think it is. You are free to believe that is racism if you like, but it's certainly not, and it doesn't do a whole lot for raising awareness regarding actual TRUE racism that is happening every day in America. Did you never hear the story of the boy who cried wolf? Because you are repeating that very concept right here.

I don't know, I don't know the context! No generally speaking, you wouldn't distinguish "American" by whether someone was Caucasian. But was this some random event thing, or a specific cultural display? What if Epcot dressed up a black person like a Geisha dancer and plopped them in the Japan display, would that have been appropriate? What if they took a Jamaican and stuck a big prosthetic nose on them and put them in the Israel display? Would that be appropriate, or maybe it could be construed as racist? What if they had put a white dude in a stereotypical Mexican sombrero and poncho, in the Mexican display... would that be alright with you? I am sure there are some white dudes who live in Mexico.

This, from my understanding, was a cultural display... that's where each culture is represented.. in a display... just for clarification.

So why is it "racist" to point out things that seem out of order or inaccurate with such a display?

what if...what if...what if...what if..

ROTFLMAO...look at Dixie flailing about, looking for any reason to justify the hateful comments from these POS convention delegates.

Here's Irene Harris's post:

Disgusting.

Here's Irene and Mark:

Of course and let me guess they're fundamentalist (read dominionist) evangelicals too!!

Here's a list of Mexican-Americans for you to find "unsuitable", nativist:

I still don't see the racism in this. Sorry.

Sounds like a legitimate complaint. If they have displays with Japan, featuring Japanese people, and displays with Germany, featuring Germans, and displays with Panama, featuring Panamanians... why did the USA display feature a Mexican? I'm sure the same point would have been made if it were a Russian or Korean, this had nothing to do with race. You've not established that point, you keep saying it, over and over and over again, you keep calling me a racist as well, but the thing you aren't doing, is establishing your point. That's because you have no point.

Look at Zapped, dog-paddling in his own fecal matter, trying to pretend that legitimate criticism is "racism" when it's clearly not.

But Epcot isn't just some corner Mexican restaurant, now is it?

Part of what makes this country exceptional is that we take in immigrants from ALL OVER THE WORLD, and once the become citizens, they help represent to the world the melting pot that is our great nation.

Only in the narrow minds of racist assholes are white folk the ONLY REPRESENTATIVE of this nation.

One more time...

BECAUSE we the people of the USA love to tout the fact that we are a MULTI-CULTURAL MELTING POT, represented by MANY RACES.

But by all means continue to flail about trying to justify the hateful attitude displayed by these racists.

I still don't see the racism in this.

Of course, you don't.

Yes, you are.

Sounds like a legitimate complaint.

To a racist, perhaps.

If they have displays with Japan, featuring Japanese people, and displays with Germany, featuring Germans, and displays with Panama, featuring Panamanians... why did the USA display feature a Mexican?

What does an "American" look like, Dix?

why did the USA display feature a Mexican?

What makes you think there was a "Mexican" involved?

Maybe your fellow racists think an Epcot employee with brown skin and dark hair whose name tag says they were born in Mexico couldn't/shouldn't be an American.

Is that it?

I'm sure the same point would have been made if it were a Russian or Korean, this had nothing to do with race.

What "race" is a Russian", Dixie?

Can an Asian be an American?

You've not established that point, you keep saying it, over and over and over again, you keep calling me a racist as well, but the thing you aren't doing, is establishing your point. That's because you have no point.

You admitted in this very thread that you are clueless about the "context"...has that changed?

Here's Irene Harris's post:

Disgusting.

Here's Irene and Mark:

mark-and-irene-harris.jpg

I've got some bad news for Irene...She better quit worrying about the mexicans skulking around and start watching hubby Mark, cuz

It's not racist to think that a display which should have featured an "American" is featuring a "Mexican." How the hell is that indicative of racism? Where in the living fuck do draw such a conclusion? A person from Mexico is NOT a person from the United States! That's not racist, it's just a fucking fact of life... just like a white European from New York is not a Japanese person! Is it racist to point that out???

Did Mark and Irene call for "nasty Mexicans to be banished from the continent?" Is there something there which indicates they are prejudiced against Mexican people? Did they call for people to boycott Epcot because they had a Mexican working there? Was any of this inferred or suggested? No... all the fuck they did, was question why the USA display had a Mexican instead of someone representative of the USA. I don't see any racism in that, I see an honest and legitimate question, and one you haven't bothered to answer because you are screaming RACISM at the top of your lungs.... meanwhile, out in the REAL world, some redneck is dragging a black man behind a pickup truck... but hey, that's okay, let's not pay any attention to that, when we have a political cow-chip to play with!

Dear, dear, dicksee....

Did it ever cross your bigoted mind (or Irene Harris's) that perhaps that person wasn't "Mexican", but maybe "Hispanic-American"?

How about because thousands of people with black hair and tan skin and a Mexican heritage were born and raised in the U.S.?

Using your bogus logic, no African-American could be in the USA display, either.

I'm sure dicksee would complain about that too...if they aren't white caucasian they aren't American, by golly!

I wouldn't say it's "disgusting" they had a Mexican standing in for an American, but they could have at least found a Native American, don't you think?

Bawhahahaha, you don't know history, Mexicans lived in what is now the USA before the French, British and Spainards invaded! My Mexican brother in laws relatives lived in Colorado before my Scottish ancestors came here.

Some people need to study history.

After the USA won territory many Mexicans stayed in the country and were given citizenship.

Gads!

How many stories need to surface before people admit this is fast becoming a common occurrence?

two incidents, and don't forget we have no clue who the first people were....are somehow "fast becoming a common occurrence?"....

please....try not to be such a hack

from zappa's own article:

Local Republican officials have decried the foofaraw to website, The Daily Item.

“The statements made by Mark and Irene Harris are uninformed and highly offensive,” said Snyder County Commissioner Joe Derk. “The Harrises’ comments show their ignorance as they cast judgment on someone they do not know. They do not speak for our county or party.”

better luck next time zappa....because a couple of idiots do not represent an entire party
