Why should the rich pay more for social security when the likelyhood of them depending on it, or socialized medicine, is pretty much nil?
Fine, then there should also be means testing to determine need.

Need of government service? Damn right. Glad we agree. Of course if that's the argument, it shouldn't be mandatory to pay into either.Fine, then there should also be means testing to determine need.
are you being sarcastic?
Glad we can agree. Now all we have to do is make paying into it optional. No, I am being serious. Plenty of wealthy people collect S.S., they should be required to prove a need.

So you go and lease cars with no intention of ever driving them, or no ability to drive them? Same principle. Why pay for what you cannot or will not use?Don't see the two as being interdependent.

No, it doesn't benefit them. The current system, where they pay for themselves, benefits them.Because they made their wealth of the laour in many cases of others. They would pay into a Health care system because it benefits everyone including them
It surely would benefit them as it brings down costs for everyone. Your insurance premiums and co pays are far more than those who have a national health care system. If there is one truism about the rich it is that they don't like to pay more for anything than they have to. Would you rather pay a co pay of $100 or $25? Would you rather pay nothing annually for your care in the way of a deductible or as much as say $5000? If your premiums to an insurance company are say $200 a month or that amount is given as a benefit by your employer which in the end lowers your take home pay or $60 a month as a tax? Seems to me that the rich would jump on the band wagon to pay less. So yes it would benefit them as much as anyone else. The US has the highest cost health care in the world. They are far from being the best when you consider the cost. The only area in medicine where they do rank highest is in the cost area. Do you like to pay more to receive less? No, it doesn't benefit them. The current system, where they pay for themselves, benefits them.
Really? What national health care system do you have? I have yet to find something that they do not cover unless it is in the vanity type surgery. Such as breast augmentation and so on. I would like to know in which country you were denied what service? Thanks. That's not really applicable since nations with a national healthcare system has a multitude of differences from ours. And even then they still deny coverage of any number of things.
Are you in the top 2% of wage earners or in the top 10% for that matter. Why would you go on about protecting them if you are not? They certainly don't care about you and yours. So why do you care so much about that economic groups wage protections? They aren't looking out for you in any way. It must be nice for them to have the poor folks watching out for their well being. Is that all you care about, vilifying the wealthy? Same, tired old horseshit.![]()
