The government can use prior restraint in prohibiting certain speech. But only when there’s a compelling interest in doing so. One can argue whether a disease that’s killing millions is a compelling interest or not.
No doubt we should be cautious in censorship. But, like the science, the misinformation about those fraudulent treatment claims hasn’t changed, either. Ivermectin, zinc, etc. are still not recognized as proper treatments for COVID.
I was reading an interesting article on this very issue. The lawyer’s take was this:

I hear you, but that is the concern. Once you say speech can be suppressed whenever leaders claim there is a compelling national interest, the definition of what counts as compelling can shift. COVID was real and deadly, no argument there, but the precedent does not just go away once the crisis ends. That is why I think allowing more speech is the better long term approach.
